What mixing bowl do you use?

So do you have a huge bowl or one you have bashed around without worry and where did you get it?
Thanks.
Hi Gingham, was just looking to see if Lakeland sell Nigella's mixing bowls and came across a huge 8 litre mixing bowl!

I have two Whittards fruit bowls which are ideal for making cakes etc. even better I got them 2 for $10 from their factory outlet.
They have served me very well for the last 10 years or so, but last year (and earlier this year when I was begged for another Christams cake), I found they were just too small to deal with a decent sized fruit cake, so soaked fruit in one, mixed ingredients in another, then did the "delia shuffle" to get them all into one - fab for the bingo wings girls!!!
So, I am either on the look out for the mason style - my mum's is huge, but she bakes too much for me to "borrow" it, so I am saving up, not money, but reasons to justify, to buy Nigella's version, which is designed to fit in under your arm -so ergonomically and practically designed, but at stupid prices....
But, I have set my heart on it, and since I bowed out on the bread board...which was lush, but far far too expensive (according to him - NEVER TAKE A MAN SHOPPING FOR KITCHEN THINGS UNLESS HE ACTUALLY USES THEM!!)
Just my tuppence worth...

Wow! I had no idea this thread would get such a great response. Thank you everyone.
I bought one yesterday. Thanks to those who suggested Asda. Actually, I'd put a round washing up bowl in the basket when DH spied some large mixing bowls that were almost the same size and about the same price. It is plastic with a handle and a spout and a non slip base so I'm really pleased with it.
However, I have also got this monster on my wish list on Amazon now. Thanks to those who suggested a metal one. It hadn't even crossed my mind to get a metal one. It'll be great for baking with the kids as it'll catch more of the flour when they're seiving (!) and should be very durable.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
lil-me, I got my Mason Cash one in Habitat when first setting up home about 1977/78. Don't know whether they still do them!0

I have to go and see them in a shop, I'm only diddy and when I put a huge bowl on the bench I sometimes can't reach into it very well or mix it without hurting my shoulders so I have to test them out first
Metal ones are good but usually light so I tend to put a damp tea towel under them to stop them skidding across the bench.
One day I might be more organised...........

That's a good tip, lil me thanks. I have very little work space (Two half cupboards, one of which has the kettle and slow cooker on it.) So I do my preperation and baking on the kitchen table. It's lower so good for short people with sore backs (like me!) I can sit at it to chop veg - perfect.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

I found a set of nestling pyrex bowls at Lakeland which are great. For a massive job I'd just nick the white glass Kenwood Chef bowl growing up (until I smashed it and we could only find a pathetic plastic replacement one).If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0

I have a huge white pyrex mixing bowl that I got at a local charity shop for £1
