I have mainly pyrex ones too but my biggest is one of those huge old fashioned ones that are white inside with the tan pattern outside (hope someone knows what I mean!) that my Nan gave me yonks ago. Holds alot but is blimmen heavy!

I know exactly what you mean as I use one of those old fashioned ones too! I love it and it's the only mixing bowl I own!
I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!

If you have a TK Maxx locally they do have quite a few kitchen bargains and its definitely worth a look.

I would never have thought of TK Maxx for kitchen equipment!

I have one the same. I usually only get it down to make christmas cake, but I have had it for about 30 years and was passed on to me by my mum

I have a massive baking bowl the same as kelink described that was a wedding present (22 years ago) and I just went to the cupboard to see if it was a Mason and Cash. It was....I say 'was' because I dropped it when I lifted it out and cracked it. :(

OMG Pink nooooooo!! What a disaster, and a bit sad too cos it was a wedding present. But maybe you could cheer yourself up with one of the lovely pink ones as now you NEED a replacement...???:D

I've got one of those big tan mixing bowls (no idea if its the same make as you're all talking about and not chancing moving it and doing a Pink:kisses3: )

Bought it for £1 in the charity shop. In true MSE style I weighed up buying/not buying then they had a half price day so I had to have it (plus a few other bits so I didn't feel I wasn't giving enough:o ). Its brilliant. Massive and feels like I'm doing proper baking when I use it whereas it just doesn't seem the same in a small pyrex bowl:rotfl:

I have a ceramic one, cream outside, white within, v. robust and old fashioned. I got it at a car boot sale for £3, and it is really enormous. I also had 2 others, but a bit smaller, one from my mother, and one from a charity shop, my daughters have them now. They also have various sizes in John Dyas, similar sort of design, and not too expensive. But do look out for them at a car boot sale or in a charity shop first!
