When will the government reward honest working citizens who do not take benefits ? Endless amount of rewards available if you choose to scrounge all day watching Jeremy Kyle.0 -
Well this escalated quickly...
Thanks to those helpful few, not bothering with this anymore, asked for advice and help, not to be slagged off and put down...0 -

Its all well and good retraining but what if you need money now?
The thing is people knew the tax credit changes were coming and many made no effort to plan (not a dig at the OP).The tax credits system encouraged people do do minimum hours to maximise their benefits. Some people did see the writing on the wall and prepared for it by evening college courses which didn't interfere with their jobs. It is still possible to do so and people need to concentrate on what is achievable rather than reasons why they can't do something.
There are many sectors which will pick up when the economy does and if I was the OP I would look into part time college courses so that when things pick up they are best positioned to take advantage.
Relying on tax credits/benefits long term is not a solution for the OP nor UK Plc0 -

it's not the "slagging off and putting down of you per se". You are clearly hard working, but you have to accept that your current child and girlfried are being kept by the tax payer. Your wages this year don't even keep you.
To plan another child whilst you are reliant on benefits highlights the system in the UK, where people are waiting years to save to have children and others can have them without a thought as there will be benefits.
Whilst your attitutde doesn't fit into the "give me money for breeding", your actions do in some way.
I hope this is temporary for you as you do appear to want the best for your family and that in a few years you are not on benefits and providing for your family (I think you will be as you do seem to want this).0 -
Why UK PLCs have to pay anything when they can get plenty of 'JSA volunteers' that are willing to work. It's about profits from backdoor, the boys (politicians) and the higher up of PLCs are in agreement. Profits, regardless of people's misery.leveller2911 wrote: »The thing is people knew the tax credit changes were coming and many made no effort to plan (not a dig at the OP).The tax credits system encouraged people do do minimum hours to maximise their benefits. Some people did see the writing on the wall and prepared for it by evening college courses which didn't interfere with their jobs. When there are millions of unemployed but only 500,000 of jobs available, how do you expect everyone to be working?0 -

In the long term yes. What about now? I've got a degree, 2 diplomas and a levels. How much retraining do I need to do?0 -
Obviously, you must know that none of the working politicians or David Cameron claims child benefits. If they did, they too are scroungers, aren't they? :rotfl:When will the government reward honest working citizens who do not take benefits ? Endless amount of rewards available if you choose to scrounge all day watching Jeremy Kyle.
And those politicians who claims thousands of pounds to buy a new set of dishes and cutlery etc on their expenses aren't scrounging? Why can't they buy the Tesco value range for a couple of pounds? It just as good.0 -

You have experience, a vocation (beauty I believe) and a business and are working.
I don't think it was aimed at you, but at others who have no qualifications and relied on 24 hours a week for 2 adults. My OH and I work with unpaid overtime over 100 hours a week easy, yet people can't seem to do more than the minimum.
Then when it is increased to 30 they are worried about not having WTC etc.
I have more sympathy for those with younger children as childcare for the 2nd worker and home responsbilities do make it harder, but some have children aged 18 - 19 and still only d 24 hours a week between 2 none disabled adults. I mean why work when the government will top up your wages to stay at home?
That is in reality what is wrong with today's society - and the companies are equally as bad as they create jobs at the minimum hours to attract just these people and deny paying decent wages that reflect profits.0 -
You know how it goes, when you got some qualifications, it's never enough and when you go and get some more that you have plenty to fill up your walls with certificates, you are over qualified. Such as life. Am I bitter? Not at all. Just realisticCharityworker wrote: »In the long term yes. What about now? I've got a degree, 2 diplomas and a levels. How much retraining do I need to do?

UK unemployed is around 2.5 million which is lower than the last recession of the 90,s and its still dropping.
Only a fool would think 100% employment is possible but what we do need is investment in areas that will create wealth and employment such as technology, Hi Tech engineering, Construction,re-newables (to some degree).
I do think a scheme that gives unemployed people work experience is a great idea if properly administered, which the current one clearly wasn't.The fact is (and you won't like it) its the rich who are the wealth creators in general by investing in businesses.
Don't fall for the Socialist Bull !!!! rhetoric of Nu-Nu-Labour the way out of recession is to grow and inovate which in tern will create a better skilled workforce.
There will always be a need for low paid jobs and they will need ongoing financial support but the truth is there are far too many of them.Encouraging people to work minimum hours to maximise benefits is very mis-guided.
Theres a New World Order and the likes of Brazil,China and India are on the rise and we need to compete. Its sink or swin time so what you gonna do?.They give naff all in benefits at all so my question to you is :
Whats your solution ?0
