And if we didn't buy such ridiculous amounts of products we could easily afford that expensive product we love. That's what really annoys me about my stash. There are products/brands I love, but don't buy because I can't possibly justify the cost. But, I could afford them if I didn't buy crap. For example, I have always wanted to own a Chanel blusher, but they are too expensive. I was going through my stash and had 6 cheap blushers all in similar shades. I could have bought the Chanel one with the money I spent on those 6 blushers.

You've hit the nail on the head there. For me this challenge isn't just about saving money and space and avoiding wastage through products going off, it's also about prioritising quality over quantity. Also about learning to delay gratification - instead of going for the instant treat of something cheap, waiting and getting something really special that will be a delight to use.

The cheap stuff can often end up malingering in my stash as it's not as much fun to use and often (not always) less effective and then I'm off for the next fix. Cheap can definitely be a false economy

I love that eyeshadow too, it glides on beautifully and lasts really well. I have had a look at some shimmer stacks of different colours and they look gorgeous.

I agree, I'm finding my HG items and am going to only buy those (but I think I need more than one HG for each product or may get bored). Plus as well for me its also not buying things just because its in nice or special packaging. I've bought loads of useless stuff as the packaging was pretty.

Or limited edition. I have been sucked into the limited edition thing before.

I'm now glad I made an inventory....makes me feel like I am getting somewhere with this even if it is only 3 products so far.

Woop! It's actually 4! Dove original roll on. WBA but nothing special! I but from a selection of makes when on offer! Dove, Nivea, Vaseline, sanex and sure! I think sure is my fave though
