hello ladies, once again many thanks for your support over 2012,not sure if my marriage will last through another year as OH is making no effort whatsoever:(christmas was okay as my sons were home but now back to the two of us and he is grumpy this morning, still deciding whether to move into the spare room as seems whatever I do it will end in tears(mine)friends all say get legal advice about what to do next as am 58 and only worked part time whilst bringng up the boys for the past 33 years so not in a good place money wise.so confused by him as some days he is very loving but like a friend and seems to have no husbandly interest in me at all.I am convinced his testosterone levels are too low(which can be bad for his health )but he won't believe me:mad:

just had my shellac removed so nails feel naked but feel strong and long:)

not sure what we are doing tonight as he refuses to go out and I don't actually feel like celebrating much!

anyway hope everyone is well and 2013 brings good times

I'm sorry to hear things are still so bad. I think you would be wise to follow your friends' advice and have a plan in case you decide it is best if you are apart. If things improve then you won't need to use it but at least you will know what your options are.

From what you have said previously it does sound as though he has little interest in taking steps to improve things and it's not something you can do on your own. I hope that whatever happens 2013 will be better for you.

Unopened BS stuff lasts for ages best bet is to do the 'give a sniff test' if it smells ok its fine. This has worked fine for me! Dont use soap and glory but reading other posts it does go off and smells rank - someone who knows this first hand will give some more info.

Bought this morning a travel style small spray bottle from b@@ts - I have several dab on perfumes that are in awkward bottles. First one tipped in and used - may have the first UU of the year very soon. Altough in all honesty this bottle of perfume has been sat there for a long time and could have been there for a lot longer.

I found an unopened bottle of S&G either shower gel or bubble bath. It was a travel size so was planning on taking it on a trip (i'm good to my products!) Then I realised it had separated. However I used it as handwash and it was fine. It smelled as it normally does and probably could have used it as shower gel but it looked disgusting in the bottle. I have a china handwash bottle so couldn't actually see it in there!

I haven't actually bought handwash for quite a while as I can usually find some unloved shower gel or bubble bath to use instead. Having said that, I HATE lavender scented products so put them all in a handwash bottle but can't even bear to use them to wash my hands!

Not strictly toiletry related as such but I've just lit a Melt candle that I was given as a Christmas gift and it is absolutely divine, 'Rich Cream' - the description itself is so nice - "Fur lined boots, sheepskin mittens, woolly hats, alpaca coats, sherry & brushed cotton jim jams!" Perfect for a cosy NYE in, have a wonderful night everyone, whatever you're doing

I also have a candle 'habit' but seem to be more successful at treating that than I am with my toiletries one. I've had a couple of mice infestations - I have a rodent phobia so it's been extremely stressful, to say the least - and the pest control man advised me not to use fruit scented anti-bac sprays or wipes as mice 'like' them. I've therefore assumed that they would also like the smell of fruit flavoured candles so haven't bought any. Mice supposedly don't like peppermint so I have bought some peppermint flavoured candles - although they can be hard to source. Don't know if it does actually deter them but it makes the house smell like toothpaste and there are worse things to smell of. :D

  • Hello all - I am in again - thanks to ruby_eskimo for getting us started.

Re the S&G 'does it go off' debate - I must have been really lucky as, so far all the things I have opened have been fine - even handcreams from last year. I am whittling down my stash quickly though 'just in case' and have no plans to buy again.

I am starting my second year on the challenge - I can't say I have reduced my stash as much as I would have liked (all my own fault I know) but on the plus side it hasn't increased as much as it would have done pre-challenge.

I have loved getting to know you all in a virtual sense - here's to the next 12 months.

Hi, count me in too please.

I have a lot of old perfume, they all seem to be OK, they have been stored in the dark though, I only had one that smelled a bit chemically so chucked it, one or two that I don't like so much have been designated as room freshners (OH doesn't use the bathroom very much, he's a shower guy), so it does not matter if it smells a bit girly:rotfl:I need to get back in the habit of using perfume daily, as well as body lotion!!!

I find air fresheners get on my chest a bit, but good idea to reuse perfumes/body sprays that way. I'm quite good at using perfume, mainly because I'm so untidy that there are bottles everywhere - in my bag, in my bedroom, living room and on my desk in work. I'm not so good with body lotion. Sheer laziness really as I have loads but haven't used them regularly since I got back from holiday and was trying to keep my tan going for a while. Stopped using scrubs then as didn't want to scrub the tan away but not using them much even though it's all faded away now.

    .

I was in Boots this afternoon (and left empty handed :j). There was loads of Xmas stuff left but didn't actually see any S and G, surprisingly. Not planning to buy any but must be the first year I haven't seen loads of their stuff in the sales.

Just used some of their aged hand cream that I thought was OKish, despite being opened many moons ago. However, not only does it smell strange but my hands feel really sticky.

They're Kiehl's ones, we're a bit sick of the usual pens, keyrings etc that you usually get and thought these would better.
