I have also had a bad week in work. Still trying to resolve the problems I posted about on the other thread, before the other posters did their best to make me wish I hadn't been born!
 ha me too! But seriously I do think I have to give the Boots sale a miss this year, still have at least 3/4 left from last year as I ddin't give much away. I think there's a set to give BF's mother for mother's day but will have to try and either sell or UU the items myself. Kind of goes against the grain though! But I do need to get my bedroom back having humffed (sp) the big S&G tins about last year, I still have 4 setscomplete with handcream that I know goes off
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

Well I finally did my stash list last night and I am so ashamed. I'm up to 184 before counting any of the things in my bedroom where I keep the day-to-day (hah!) hair products etc. Also not counting sachets for fear of pushing myself over the edge. I had no idea I would get to triple figures, never mind over 200!
Now I've collated it all into boxes (drawer each for face, hair and body washing; face care, body care, nail treatments, nail top and base coats(!), nail polish, hair styling and all my makeup. It is such a volume for a tiny two bed house, and I don't even want most of it!
I know my problem. I get obsessed with an area eg being blonde, buy everything for it and a week later I'm auburn with a heap of purple based toners. Then I'm diy-pedi obsessed and buy for that. I don't think there are any unexplored areas left now. Gosh I hope not!
I've a UU at least; Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Cleansing & Toning Lotion. WNBA. I've had it for years and the alcohol in it didn't get better with age; it was vile if it was too close to my mouth. Ugh!0 -

This is the worst bit, GG: realising that you MASSIVELY underestimated how much stuff you had. That's fair enough if you are wise enough to now use this as a spring board to use up the things you have bought (we have all realised that!) and barely buy anything until then, but it all depends on the person...where do you fall on the scale now you have realised where you already are on it?!Please call me 'Pickle'

Welcome newbies... So many interesting sidetracks on this thread, the Boots 75% - here's what happens , what a laugh that was! :rotfl:
The link Noelphobic put up...(Wonder if it's the person who represented my ex-husband in the divorce court, Noelphobic? I got the house, maintenance (in theory, at least) and a chunk of his pension. 'Nuff said.
)
My UU - the 75ml Avon Berry & Vanilla Foot Works foot cream. WIBA? No, I don't think so.
I liked the scent but it isn't a very thick cream, far from it, and whilst Avon have some good offers on, it just isn't worth the normal cat. price of £4.50.
The Boots 'Gorgeous Feet' cream - just a wee 50 ml jar from my Christmas gift set - that has replaced it has a heavenly sweet vanilla scent. I must investigate this cream further.
I have enough in Am*zon vouchers for an Emjoy Micro Pedi - then I had a LBM  ...
Some years ago my son asked for a Revlon mains powered mani/pedicure set as he is a keen guitarist and they need nails, but then found out it wasn't really what he needed, so it was given back to me. It's sat largely unused on my dressing table for about 4-5 years now, in its neat mini flight-case.
The Revlon set has a callus remover attachment for hard skin.
The LBM - I only have a few small bits of hard skin to deal with, so if the Revlon set works it will make shelling out for the micro pedi redundant.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
First UU of the year! Not very exciting though. Can of Batiste. Bought another yesterday to replace it so first IN as well. Will try and catch up on thread later as I'm going grocery shopping in a mo.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Morning all. Welcome newbies. Well done to people who are resisting offers, I knew new year would be hard.
Have a little uu - Clinique Deep Comfort hand and nail cream. This was really nice but I don't think I would pay Clinique prices for hand cream, this was a gwp and I would be happy to receive another.
Will have some ins later today I think as I have £45 on my Debenhams beauty card which I want to spend before it expires.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Like VALM has mentioned, I'll never not have some sort of stash as I too stock up in the sales, I also usually get quite a bit toiletry wise for Christmas and my birthday being in June is well spaced out! If I'm honest I enjoy having a stash but I don't want it to be out of control and it is a chore using up stuff you don't particularly enjoy and so annoying if things go off unused. My ideal scenario would be to have a small stash of HG products I really love plus getting new things now and again to try without the guilt currently associated with that
Hopefully I might be there this time next year - we'll see!
I'm the same, I don't really want to get down to one of everything, I just want to make sure I am not buying so much that things go off before I use them, or that I don't buy things just because they are a bargain, but I don't really look forward to using them.
I like variety too much to have just one of everything (especially scented items / perfume), but there's a happy medium somewhere between that and the twenty odd different body lotions I have at the moment. Probably one rather closer to the one end of the scale than the twenty odd too!
I think I am going to make myself use the dreaded banana body butter and shower gel I bought in a mad moment in the body shop sale.... just to remind myself that cheap doesn't mean I should buy. Might let myself off the hook a bit and use the shower gel as handwash and the body butter as foot cream though. There's only so much punishment a girl can take.
I had been planning to GA, but looking at the amount of money it's going to cost me to get the house sorted now my ex isn't coming back I think I'm going to have to suck it up and use the stuff I don't much like and only get rid off stuff that is actually bad for me - allergic reaction etc. And I don't tend to get many of those.
Need to apply the same principles to other things I tend to stockpile too - not sure if the people on the threads for things like DVDs / CDs / books etc are as friendly as those here though - anyone got any experience?0 -
A UU this morning - Balance Me Balancing Face Moisturiser - WNBA - Liked the smell but found this felt a bit sticky and left my face feeling a bit tight in an uncomfortable way and strangely not very moisturised.
Got quite a few splutterers so hopefully more UU soon - going to work shortly, going to pop into Boots first to see if I can get a Sanctuary set or two to put away - would make a nice Mother's Day present I think. Sorry if I gave you a panic Noelphobic thinking you'd missed the big sale0 -
kiplingmonkey wrote: »Don't panic, keep calm - they just had 2 items with 75% off today. A Sanctuary set and a Gok Wan set.
still sounds tempting lol! I got my vouchers from Boots today and only have £2.19 worth of points. I'm quite pleased with that in a way because it shows that I haven't been spending much in there.
Has anyone used the Gok Wan products? I've heard they're really nice.3 stone down, 3 more to go0
