...almost tempted to bin dive today...

...but I won't.

Ex has just left for a week (we share house for now), he massively overbought on food for himself and his kids over xmas. He's binned the lot.

Sitting in our kitchen bin is a big bag of onions (only one used), other veggies, a pack of stewing beef, and a pack of chicken breasts, a pot of cream. All unopened and sealed apart from the onions. All still in date.

Now all wasted sitting in stinky bin. It seems it would have killed him to see if I wanted it instead (I've offered him a few bits and pieces over the weeks as you can't always get stuff in one person portions. He always says no, maybe he thinks I might have poisoned it, lol).

I know it's none of my business and it's his own money he's throwing away, I just hate seeing stuff wasted like this, especially meat. It seems so...immoral.

If it is all unopened and sealed, get it all outa there and get it used.

    I would. No messing.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • seems a bit gross though. There's a load of cooked up leftovers dumped in there as well...

Get it all out of the bin and cook it up! I was always retrieving things out of the bin when I lived with the ex who was a total moron when it came to [STRIKE]food [/STRIKE] most things. I remember pulling out an unopened bag of carrots ON their Sell By Date!!!

What an **$e to do that when you could use it...
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

  • I'd be in there, nothing is likely to be gross and stinky, it's not been around long enough.

I inherited a pot of clotted cream from my aunt who was going to bin it. My Dad knows never to look a gift horse so said he'd take it on - it's priced at £3.51 and is currently sitting in my freezer!

Get thyself in that bin asap and haul it all out right now. Nowt that a good rinse under the tap wont cure. :D

He'll be none the wiser and you can laugh at his wasteful stupidity whilst enjoying the food. :D

ok then, now it has the MSE seal of approval for not being a totally disgusting thing to do.

6 chicken thighs use-by date 31/12 in the freezer (thought they were breasts at first glance, but no, that's ok I prefer the dark meat. thats 3 meals for me)
    onions back in fridge

beef and other veg looked a bit manky so left that, and left the cream as I'm on a diet.

Agree with the others - get it out!!! That must be at least a tenners worth in there. If you saw a £10 note in the bin, would you leave it there?
