Every couple has the right to time on their own minus kids. If it was very rare, your relationship will have benefited. I'd say you needed it. Bin that guilt. £25 a head with drinks comes in at a value lunch in most good quality places.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

I don't go out much, so if I'm bored, I'll pick up a bottle of wine (£5) and probably something nice for my dinner (£3) and something to go on the side of it (£1), maybe a DVD (£3), and I'll probably do that for a few weeks (=£36) but if I go out for a nice meal, it will tide me over for a few weeks, and I won't want any of it. Total saving per person = £11. Think of it that way? You'll save yourself countless takeaways because of it!0 -
After all I said this morning, after a stressful day at work I was craving a takeaway, but thought I'd be good and just buy a bottle of wine and a microwave dinner instead. Then I realised my preferred wine is £6, and a meal would be at least £2, so I went for the takeaway option for the same price! I'e just been craving sugary things all week, so will have this as a way to draw a line underneath it.
Doing some overtime tomorrow, so I'll be able to make up the cost at least0 -

Only 6 pounds to go til I invest in these :

And invest is the right word. Over the last few weeks my (old) running shoes have given me some immense blisters. Most have toughened up now but keep getting huge ones on my left heel. I never used to get any blisters when running so maybe the shoes are trying to tell me I should be running and not walking0 -
I think I need to buy myself some slightly smarter work clothes. I was the technical expert in a work meeting, where most of the attendees knew each other except for two of us. One attendee immediately directed his queries to the other guy, and I got indignant that they just assumed the man was the technical expert (especially because he wasn't)! Speaking to a friend, they suggested it was because the man was dressed in a smart suit, while I was dressed in my usual cardigan and black trousers. They politely suggested that I maybe dress a bit smarter for future meetings...
I'd like to see what I can get off EB*y, but I probably ought to go to a real shop, because any time I've bought something on EB*y, it never fits right.0 -
