I loved reading this thread. I should have added to my last post that if we also had a thread entitled 'Things I'm not so proud of what my child has done' I could have written numerous things on that one :rotfl:

  • Thank you for this thread. This is something I have wanted to shout about for long enough, but strangely sometimes think, I don't want to boast whilst other struggle with their offspring.

I am proud of my two sons 21 and 18, they have grown into loving, kind and considerate young men. Recently both dealt with the very sudden loss of our family dog whilst we were of on holiday. They chose not to tell us til we came home.

On a more humerous note, the other week, my youngest was caught trying to be quiet coming in to the house. He was stripped down to his boxers! Why? Because he had been sick (alcohol self inflicted) all down himself, so stripped on the doorstep!

    I've been Money Tipped!
My 8 year old rang 999 when his dad had a seizure and I was at work last week. He didn't know our postcode so he found a letter with it on so he could give it to the emergency operator.

The operator asked him to open the front door wide so when the ambulance arrived the crew could get straight in, to which he said 'ok but my 2 year old brother might escape so I will have to hold his hand until you get here!'.

He then called me at work to let me know what was happening.

I'm so proud of him I could burst! Xx

That made me cry :) what an incredible little boy

    What a lovely thread....

I am very proud of my darling monsters.... DS who is 18 and works on a fishing boat up in Scotland came home for Christmas this year, after staying up north the last 2 years.
He knew that things are tight moneywise and got his sisters very thoughtful pressies, and even spoilt me! It was so hard saying goodbye to him this morning :( I wont see him until Easter now..:(
I am also very proud of my girls, we have had a very hard 2 years since my darling mum died and we have all struggled a lot!

It's a hard job being on any fishing boat. My first husbands family had trawlers in Peterhead and he worked on them from he was 16. He loved the sea :). I hope 2013 brings lots of luck and happiness your way.

Our dining room is always freezing in the winter as it has patio doors all down one wall and I had made a comment that Xmas day dinner would be on our laps even though I had made up the Xmas table because it was so freezing in there.
Unbeknown to us my 12 year old had got up early on Xmas day bypassing his presents to go downstairs and heat up the dining room with the gas portable heater we have.
He had put it in the room, closed the door, waited for it to heat the room, opened the door to test it was hot enough, all without waking us then excitedly wanted us to go downstairs with him, not for his pressies as we thought but to show us we could have Xmas dinner in the room he was so happy he started a victory dance :A proud and a priceless moment who would have thought a heated room was more exciting than Xmas day presents?:D

As an old octarian I am moved by these stories of the these young folk.
It offsets the many horror stories about the younger generation and they can be justifable proud of what they have/are, doing.
