I dont have half the problems of other people on here so feel a little selfish for even complaining but Im not feeling good today.
You have been through so much and coped with more than many could have. I dont see your need to talk things through and get others perspectives as being selfish at all. You are trying, despite being worried and not feeling good, to protect family and friends. That is a really thoughtful way to be, though I am sure they would want to be there for you too.
Do make an appointment with your regular gp and explain how the letter has made you feel anxious. I agree with others that the gp you saw was most likley being extra cautious, so decided to make a different hospital to that which you usually attend, fully aware of your medical history.
I hope all goes well for you and that 2013 will be a good year for you. You really deserve it to be

Wow - thank you so much everyone for all your lovely replies and kind and helpful advice, it's all much appreciated. I've been working the last few days and had a lot of college work yesterday so I've only just seen the replies.
Thank you for the advice Savvy Sue - the pain is worst at night so I will definitely give that a go - thank you x
To all those sending hugs - thank you, also much appreciated!
To Pollypenny - hehe. Being an England fan I cant possibly comment on Wales
Yesterday was not a good day for me. I felt low and cranky and I was typing all day which made the pain niggle more. I went out for New Year last night but wasnt really in the mood for that either - even OH is keeping out my way because I'm a bit grumpy right now. I know one of my rugby lads has had the exact same scan on his shoulder when he hurt it during a game so I'm going to ask him on Saturday when I see him what to expect, hopefully that might calm me down a bit. I'm going to my Mum's tomorrow, she wont let me be down in the dumps so that might make me feel a little better and I'll go and see my usual GP when I come home.
Thank you again everyone, you're all so kind xxxx*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
I'm sure you've been kind to other MSE'ers - what comes around goes around.

Given what you've gone through in the past year, I think you'd be a weirdy one if you didn't have a bit of a flapdoodle about your shoulder, it would be a normal reaction, wouldn't it?
Wishing you well and that you get some good support from your regular GP
I don't do virtual hugs, have a firm virtual handshake from me instead.;).................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Happy to help: you may also find a cushion on your lap to rest the poorly arm on helps quite a bit, and type with just one hand as much as you can! ANYTHING to take the strain off the muscles and keep it supported.Thank you for the advice Savvy Sue - the pain is worst at night so I will definitely give that a go - thank you x
But I was astonished how much difference it made to have a pillow between me and my arm when I was in bed: it's over two years since I broke my shoulder and I've only just give up using one every night (DH stole my spare pillow for his stiff neck!), but I have a small cushion beside the bed 'just in case'.
It was my massage therapist who gave me that tip, NOT the shoulder consultant, nor the physio, but it was SO helpful, so I pass it on as much as I can!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I'd echo Sue's comments. I'm another shoulder-problem-sufferer and that dreadful feeling of knowing that you won't be able to sleep, so tomorrow will be even harder than today, is hard to cope with.
I found a pillow didn't work so well for me; for whatever reason I needed a smaller but deeper shape. A small fluffy toy football would have suited, at a push and old sweater tied up with soft belts into a globe-shaped would have done. I suspect it's worth testing with anything that you have that is remotely the right shape until you find something that works for you.
I hope you find some relief soon,

I had a selection downstairs! One of those fat round bead shaped cushions was very good downstairs, otherwise I needed two cushions to keep the arm comfy on my lap ...I found a pillow didn't work so well for me; for whatever reason I needed a smaller but deeper shape. Also those horseshoe shaped travel pillows were good for padding round the shoulder in the car!Signature removed for peace of mind0
