There is no guarantee that your existing meter that was installed in 2000 is a Metric model - If it is it will be marked m3 on the front
If it is marked ft3 it is an Imperial model and the new one will be Metric, however it is not unkown for the supplier not register the change of meter type and continue to send bills based on the Kwh calculation for an Imperial model.
When you get the first bill for the new meter, divide the Meter Units by the number of Kwh charged - If the answer is appx.11 you are being charged for a Metric meter, but if it's around 31 you are still being charged on the basis of an Imperial meter and should contact your supplier immediately0 -
