Hello and good evening to everyone, we made it into the weekly email yay :j when did that happen?

Welcome to any newcomers please feel free to join in and post about your lunchtime concoctions :D

Betty crumble and bargainbetty excellent re the reductions, well done with those :T and there's nothing wrong with bagging a bargain.

Wow AFK you are doing a brilliant job - it literally is like having a 2nd job with the amount of savings you've earnt yourself. Excellent  and you'll feel much better for paying your dad back ;)

sarahemmm - you don't have to declare a savings amount to be able to join in and I agree with FatVonD the Bombay mix sounds lush. So please sarah if you have any more great ideas then please share, your contributions are most welcome :A

Shortie thanks for making a start with the thread that will be a great help, you're a :staradmin :j and I can't believe you've been paying 70p per pack of crisps. That's convenience prices for you.

his missus - you are doing a great job too and you made me laugh when you told us about having to hide the crisps from your hubby :rotfl:

Naomi and 365 - there certainly are some very weird and wonderful things on that u-tube, I feel like I'm missing out now :D very well done with keeping the lunches going.

tatuZeddy - welcome, welcome  your instant mashed potato sarnies sound a bit random, I might have to give those a try myself, that's if I don't eat the stuff straight from the packet first :rotfl:please come back and give us some more interesting ideas :j

Keep going people cos tomorrow it's Fridayyyy woo-hoo :T:dance:

I went to the 99p shop today and they had those mug shots at 3 for 99p and various other noodle things for the same price. Might be worth a look if you want to take those kind of things instead of a sandwich.

  • Saw in tescos today a packet mix for coronation chicken :D I'm sure you can make it with quoth instead of chicken. Obviously you can probably make it completely from scratch but it looked like a great cheat!

Sarnies still being made, chicken and bacon tomorrow, and still not a penny spent on anything at all this week, except some throat tablets for dh!

  • Hi, been reading through this thread with interest after seeing it in the weekly email.I try to take my own food to work but often run out of steam by Wednesday!
I have a microwave at work so often try to make up a small extra portion of an evening meal and just reheat that - eg lunch today was leftover chicken risotto.

A great sandwich filling that I always forget about is cooked chicken in a mix of pesto & mayo - makes a really tasty dressing, a good way to use up leftover roast chicken.

I don't like eating too much bread so I prefer wraps, the Mission Deli Garlic/Herb ones often half price at Tesco are really tasty. When I'm bored of ham and salad filling, a nice change is a couple of slices of chorizo and a tiny bit of goats cheese (both pretty cheap and good quality at Lidl), microwaved in the wrap for 20 secs, then cold salad added. Mmmmm...

Also colleague bought a flatbread/wrap thing from our work coffee shop today, the filling was brie, crushed walnuts, feta and rocket. Looked lovely but was expensive to buy, and the brie and walnut are stuff people may have lying around after Christmas cheeseboards and nuts!

OOooh I feel like a new (lunch) woman! Mr Shortie wanted to get the weekly food shop done tonight instead of over the weekend so I now am the proud owner of amulti bag of salt & vinegar walkers for my drawer at work :D

Oh, and in the fashion of the last of the big spenders, they had some bakery bits reduced to 10% of their original price, so breakfast is half a pack of Mr T value scotch pancakes (Mr shortie will have the other half, which were reduced to 2p... so an expensive 1p breakfast for me, and 1p for Mr Shortie :rotfl:

In other news, lunch tomorrow if left over hm spag bol

  • Yippeee, it's almost the weekend :D

I was out last night and didn't get in until late so posting this morning before work.

My soup was ok, I will finish off what I made to save wasting it (another two lunches ) but won't make it again unless I make less and eat for two days rather than freeze.

I am declaring yesterday and today as lunch to work days (have lunch again today) 3 & 4 and saved £2.45 yesterday and today (based on eggo mayo and crisps from Pret) so total saved this week is £8.40.

Food shopping this evening so will factor in 3 days lunch next week.

Keep warm and have a good day.

    Hi everyone!
Done quite well this week (first week back). Took packed lunch every day and didn't buy any carp from the vending machine. I did buy a muffin from the charity bake sale - £1.20.
Tea was half price this week and I haven't replaced my useless flask yet so afternoon cuppas = £2.50 total.
So £3.70 total - a big drop. DH has taken a packup every day too saving god knows how much. Following candlewicks post that makes 5 LTWs and £10 saved.
Well done everyone whos achieved even one thing this week. Its hard work changing a routine.

    Hi all!

So uninspired last night as to what to do for lunch. Was tempted to treat myself to summat in town but have thrown together some crackers, cheese, ham and chutney instead.
