Will you answer the questions being asked of you then?
What did you get for the item from your 'colleague'
Did you tell your 'colleague' that the item was, to all intents and purposes 'stolen'?
Have you asked the 'colleague' for the item back?
And finally...
Have you had any further discussion with the seller on the issue?0 -

I think the point at which people think you're a thief is not that you opened it, but that you sold it! That is when it goes past being innocent. I have a feeling that if the company contacted you and you said you had used it but they can have it back, they'd probably leave it at that. It's the fact that you sold it. It obviously wasn't a substitute, being many times the value.
Expensive lesson, but basically you get the responses you got because you're trying to get people to validate your actions and they can't.0 -

Haven't sold it, I exchanged it, most of the points made are valid..but some are being provocative for self satisfaction related issues.. They didn't contact me for 10days .... The thing is I may have committed an act of theift by the letter according to law not being aware it is theift by the letter!! I seeked advice from people who are quite intelligent and they referred me to the citizen advice berous page where it says I don't have to give it back..and it's illegal to threaten me with legal action..
For the exception of a few this place seem have a concentration of preaching anal personalities.. And they probably know it.. The only place they can get away with being as anal as they are is in a place like this.. This will get sorted one way or another but they are stuck with how they are.. God help them and their close ones if any.

Theft by finding is still theft. End of. I don't understand why you are spending so much effort getting at people who are trying to help you and not looking into how you are going to get the item back or pay for it?? Although it is amusing, it's not doing you any good. There are no circumstances in the world that will allow you to keep the item and the money. Get over it.0
