I have my own thoughts but i know you havent come here for those. list her on the sites sugested but when people contact you or come to look at her follow your insinct are they the right people for her. shes looking for a forever home and if you dont think there right say so. ask them about there lives what dogs they have had or had. If they have thought it through and are commited they wont mind the questions.
is she spayed? if not get her spayed before she goes if your on a low income its free or very cheep. this will get rid of people wanting to breed from her
DONT put free to good home put a price on her you dont have to take it when it comes down to it but people see free and dont stop to think can i afford this dog long term.
while your waiting for the right home for her try to make the best of the situation, reward her for sitting on the floor. a bone or toy to keep her occupied. if she gets on the sofa give a firm command "off" works well when she gets off praise her she will get the idea dont get into a shouting match or keep repeating your self just say it and meen it she will soon get the idea.
lock her out of the bedroom she may settle in her bed outside the door. if not just reasure her dont over fuss just say bed quick stroke and shut the door. i used to give my springer frozen yogurt in a kong toy to keep her occupied when i first left the room. her sleeping in the bedroom is not healthy for you and allows her to feel dominent within your pack.
get into a routine she doesnt understand lie ins so try and make a regular routine it will make things less stressfull my dog is home alone 6hrs but shes fed and walked before i go and walked when i get home. and has set times for wees and treats. (if im home early she doesnt even come to greet me:) )
My dads dog climbs on your knee hes massive and smells he drives me mad but my dad wouldnt have him any other way. so theres a home out there for her if it cant be yours

Bless her, she sounds exactly like my stafffie - she's still in bed now with her head on the pillow!Thank you for all the replies, suggestions, advice and links.
The dog had been mistreated, I don't know all the details. I was told she wasn't toilet trained and was chewing things, but the fur was worn away on her nose, her ears and her tail, I tried her in a cage when I got her as I wasn't sure how she would be on her own and she went berserk, which is why I wanted to stay away from the shelters really. I thought her coming to me was better than an alternative but I hadn't even considered that she would be so clingy as she didn't seem to be. I'm waking up and she's managed to get under the covers and lie across me, or has her head on my pillow. Such close proximity isn't good, I've had dogs before and they haven't wanted to be this close. I've got the laptop balanced now as she is lay against me with her head on my lap.
I feel awful basically posting to say she just wants cuddling and I can't, but company isn't enough for her, she wants contact.
I'm glad someone mentioned facebook and gumtree, my mum suggested those but I wasn't sure
I'd look at local independent animal rescues if you really can't keep her, I tend to avoid Facebook as I've heard so much about animals going to bad homes.0 -
I've had my staff from when he was 10weeks old. I often wake up with him asleep lying between OH and me. He's getting on a bit now and can often be found curled up asleep at the foot of my sons bed.
If you are anywhere near the west midlands, i can recommend a brilliant staffie rescue, they won't euthanise.0 -
If you put her on gumtree someone will probably snap her up to use her as a bait dog, there are several rescues on facebook maybe you could try Little Angels Staffie Rescue? They have a page on facebook and are more than likely full but might be able to offer you some advise if you post on there.
I hope you find a loving home for her and she don't end up in the wrong hands.0 -
You know, a lot of people would love a dog that was so affectionate, what a shame she isnt right for you.
Do try dogpages forum and describe how affectionate she is - your "clingy" will be someones idea of heaven if they have had aloof dogs before.
I do hope she finds safety.
I was reading the other day how some bloke got a staffie from gumtree and then killed him the same day by hammering his head in 24 times and then leaving him. You dont want that to happen to her.0 -
Staffords are probably one of the hardest breeds to rehome due to media reporting. They love people hence which surely isnt a bad thing? I feel so sorry for this dog

I had someone ring yesterday who had got a GSD and Rottie from "preloved" online, less than 24 hours before and now wanted rid of them - "I have never had a dog before, I didnt know how much trouble it would be"......apparently the previous owner didnt want to know.
I have become very depressed with the number of this type of call over the pass few weeks.0 -

i have 3 rescue staffies (just got a third). I absolutely love the unconditional love they give. I'd take a 4th if I had enough p** bags.
I think as many other people have said, it's got to be worth sticking with for a while. Maybe get a dog trainer in, or read up on some dog training techniques you can try? There are several posters on this forum who seem to know their onions.
The devotion you get can't be matched anywhere else, or by anyone. I suspect a few rules implemented would help a lot. (Bear in mind my second one still waits until we're asleep then gets on the bed, and has incredibly selective hearing) I am neither an expert, nor a teacher. It just sounds like a sad situation, with a possibility to improve with time and patience.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
