When we had our first dog, he was very clingy for a few months and still can be, at times, but he much better.

Our latest addition also displays signs of clinginess but whilst first doggie has attached to me, second doggie has attached to my daughter.

They are funny characters but it's easy to see that rehoming can have a huge effect on them.

Have you tried rescue remedy in her water bowl, to help calm her down until you can rehome?

    Have you tried https://www.dogpages.org.uk?

I spent many hours on there when I was looking for a dog to rehome. Maybe post on there - copy what you've written here.

    Poor little thing.

No wonder she's needy and clingy if she's headed for at least her third home in her short life.

When looking for our second doggie, we went to the local dog's home and it was pretty much full of abandoned staffies :(

It really is not fair for the dogs but hopefully, in this instance, the OP will be able to find a loving home for her dog.

As others have said - the fact she's a Staffie is going to weigh against her heavily and the kennels are already full to bursting with Staffies that nobody wants.

You haven't said what area of the country in you're in Op, but perhaps try Googling 'Staffie Rescue' as there are a lot of them scattered around which specialise in that breed and the smaller rescues are often good...check if they do fostering etc when you phone them.

You could try an ad in your local paper - but make sure they're local people so you can do a home check and generally make sure they're good people before you hand the dog over (you get some horror stories of unscrupulous types who'll pick up these types of dogs either to train to fight or as 'bait' for fighting dogs.)

If you really can't cope with her, best to crack on and get it sorted ASAP rather than let her bond to you too much or else she'll be even more screwed up she's moved on again.

    Best of luck.

Could you start the classes you were planning to do, and then ask around at the class?

People would get chance to meet your dog and fall in love with her, and you can see what the people are like and make sure she is OK.
  • You say she is alone all day? Can I ask why? As you seem to have given the impression in other posts that you are not currently employed.

Its such a shame that the majority of dogs you see in rescue centres are staffs. Its a shame that dogs end up in rescue centres in the first place and it seems to be because people impulse buy then change their minds when they can't cope.

My last dog at 10mnths old had been pased backwards and forwards from breeder to buyer several times and eventually to me. He was insanely clingy........to the point that it annoyed me intensely, I was used to GSD so a dog that isn't litterally under your feet , and I rescued a norwich terrier that was part of my feet.!! Given time and effort he became confident , and your dog may well be the same. To be honest he sounds lovely!

It might be that things will calm once you have had time , in the end my terrier was so independant I was only there at times to feed him ,and for walks as he wa confident and content in his home. But if you aren't bonding then he deserves better as you have said.

If you do want to find a home for him though do it now and don't mess about, the amount of staffies needing a home is appauling.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Dog allergy?

    Not at home all day?

Not wanting to spend time with a dog that adores you?

    Fantastic choice of pet.

Do the right thing and find them a decent home. You took the dog on, therefore it is up to YOU to make sure that dog is ok and rehomed well.

Hmm, I'd have said that if you take a dog on then its your responsibility to care for it to the end of its life, barring exceptional circumstances.

Though as an allergy sufferer I am baffled that someone would take in a shedding dog.
