I can never understand posts like this. I earn £28,000 and as a single parent I get nearly all my rent paid in housing benefit, my wages, child benefit, £200 per week tax credits, £4 per week council tax benefit...how can you not be entitled to them as well?
You're not truly a single parent though, are you?I read this thread with interest.
Like the OP, I am in a relationship with the father of my kids. He is over some nights...usually after the kids are in bed, looks after them in my house 2 days a week while I work, and sometimes stays over.
I work full time, claim CTC but just get the childcare element and don't get any other means tested benefit. Are you saying by this thread that he shouldn't be allowed to claim his means tested incapacity benefit and that I should be expected to support him?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Good spot - another one that expects to have their cake and eat it.0 -
And I defended them - I really must stop being so niave!
I see now - they'd have to support thier IB none working partner so claim benefits.
How the hell if OP's partner looks after them 2 days a week do they pay £1200 for a childminder? is that an older post?0 -

ditto!
What a poor example to set - daddy's ill so only comes over for nookie to max out our benefit claim - we wouldn't want to pay for daddy's keep....:eek::eek:0 -
Lol this website is a joke. You have no idea of the circumstances surrounding us not living together at that time and now we are no longer even in contact...his choice.0

The more you post the more I worry for your children - their dad constantly in and out of the picture, your example that it is ok to play the benefits system. Do you want them to follow your example when they are older?0 -

Yes you're right, it is a joke that taxpayers are expected to fund whatever lifestyle someone else chooses!
