This is something we used to do on one of the previous threads
Have a FREEDOM CLOTHES DAY! This involves freeing up something from your wardrobe to wear eg Freedom Monday or Freedom Friday were always popular days. It helped us wear what we already own instead of always buying new things to stick in unworn.
Anyone up for a Freedom Friday this week? Then plan an outfit to wear from your wardrobe something that's been in there for ages that you haven't worn
I'll wear a skirt to work that I haven't worn yet and has been in my wardrobe since May - hmm, and I thought I was doing ok wearing what I had!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

C'mon girls, let's do it!
I can't join in this Friday i'm afraid due to a 12 hour shift at work (uniform required) but i will endeavour to join as many freedom days as possible0 -
Fedupandskint - that is a cool idea, I am off work now till the new year and I do have to wear branded blouse and black skirt or trousers so I think that Saturday will be my day.
Elly68 ditto the Asda stuff its not just you!!!! - I found two pairs of cropped jeans that I bought in the summer, tried on too big and just left them rather than taking them back.....
So ladies in preparation for this total no spend this year I have now sorted ALL yes ALL my clothes out! I have been quite ruthless too.
I have a huge suitcase, bag and massive box full of stuff that I no longer want - my next job is to sort it into ebay/carboot and charity shops stuff, and will cannibalize bits for any good buttons/ trim etc another day. There is even a shop not too far away that buys clothes for rags etc, they dont pay much I think its 50p a kilo but all the rubbish stuff I will take there and see if I can get a couple of quid! can use this towards my haberdashery spendMy job after that is to attack my 'outstanding' sewing projects (mmm unfinished and started a long time ago) and sort all my fabric out, I either need to finish them or get rid, no more prisoners! then I can focus or what I have got to work with.
I have a wardrobe of winter clothes that fit, and that I can see! so on Saturdays I can now see exactly what I can wear that I havent for ages!!!!
I have two further suitcases of summer stuff that fits, and one case of mixed winter and summer that is slightly too small ( I flit between a size 10 or 12 depending on shop)
I have also salvaged a pair of my fave work shoes, the insole bit had slipped and got all twisted so I have removed both and found some insoles in a drawer, cut them to shape and voila (new) wearable shoes. have just given them a polish and they are spot on again. My OH thinks I have totally lost the plot, so I said ' are you going to give me £50 to get new ones, mmm thought not so whats wrong with mending instead of spending as there is nothing wrong with them apart from the insoles! ' ha he said nothing and went back to his online game!!! :rotfl:
My work wardrobe has been sorted (my old work t shirts have been relegated to my decorating/gardening clothes) along with a couple of fleeces that have seen better days, I have repaired 3 cardigans today, buttons replaced and also took up some trousers - there are 12 pairs of trousers, and 5 skirts! I have 15 work blouses and t shirts and about 6 cardigans....so I am going to iron the lot and do no ironing for a while for work!!!
Bizarrely its seems really liberating to be doing this and getting sorted....I kinda like the feeling of knowing that everything in my wardrobe fits and is wearable, that my nightwear is sorted and my underwear drawers tidy
Anyway hope everyone is doing ok and has a lovely NYE, I am off now to prepare an Indian feast for tonightDont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0 -

I loved doing this last year! Really made me think about what I had in my wardrobe - am doing FF a bit early as today am wearing a pair of black cargo trousers that I usually wear in Spring but have put on a pair of leggings underneath to keep me warm

I'm new to this forum and thought this thread would be a good place to start! I'm 19 years old, and considering I have no student debt over my head because I didn't go to uni, I still have somehow managed to rake up £900 worth of overdraft on 2 separate current accounts. Now I've got a new job and am hoping to get that all sorted....but my biggest burden? CLOTHES. If I have any money spare, I don't think to save it, it just goes on clothes. I'd say in total that in 2012 I probably spent around 1500 on clothes. This year however, I'm setting myself a target of £600. That's £50 a month to treat myself to something (as apposed to the couple of hundred a month I'm used to!). This includes shoes, underwear, everything.
I've recently moved house as well so don't have much stuff here, but at my mums I have three bin bags waiting to be sorted out, so might find some surprises in there! Best of luck everyone, and happy new year!!0 -
Can I join please?
I would like to set a target of £100 for the year.
This will cover everything! I usually buy something new every time we go anywhere so I can't see this being easy!
Any hints or tips would be brillMake £10 a day in January £0/£310

 mmm just had an idea.... its not really suitable for me as I wear a work blouse and mainly work with guys but might be for some of you ladies???? It was something that I got involved in at a place I used to work where there were a lot of women... often people lost weight or just had a clear out and we used to have informal clothes swaps, people would bring in a bag of things they no longer wore and when we made a cup of tea we would have a browse! I havent worked there for over 3 years ago but still have some of the stuff I swapped
A great way to get a new outfit without spending and it did encourage me to have a bit of a sort out! SAHM that go to playgroup could perhaps do something there, or students at UNI, or even an evening around a friends house getting everyone to bring something along to swap??
Well I'd best stop procrastinating and get on with my Indian cookingDont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0 -

Ah. It appears I am doing the Project 333 already without realising it:o Have gone through my wardrobe and I wear 30 items; just need to separate lounge wear and fitness attire.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
