Hi Guys - so the new thread from Lula-Hula's original Crazy Clothes challenge, I am re-posting her first post because do you know what, she says it best and i think her confessional strikes a cord with all of us.
The Completely Crazy 2013 Clothes Challenge:D
Yes, oh yessy, yes, yes; it's that time of year again :j
The time of year when I can just sense that some of you are either doing physical battle in the shops, some are hovering over the 'pay now' button online & the veterans of past challenges are sat there quite content with what they already have :A.
For me, 2011 has been an 'experimental' year in terms of all things clothes, shoes & accessories. I've never previously counted what I spend on DD throughout the year, so that was interesting  . There was a whole new school uniform to be bought; not so interesting, but rather costly.
I had a rough budget in mind for the both of us, but managed to exceed it (quite considerably in fact ). Still, the majority of my own purchases were via ebay & about 85 % succesful. The remaining 15% were either donated on to family or friends or charitized. I do get a bit competitive, & on more than one occasion have gone over my initial bid; just so that I win
. This is not always a succesful strategy - the raincoat I bought nearly a year ago for more than twice my original bid makes me look like Inspector Gadget - :rotfl:
I bought many lovely frocks, as after years of wearing jeans / trousers, I am now embracing my feminine side & reckon that you just can't go wrong with a dress that fits well, flatters your colouring & shape & puts a bit of a sashay in your stride
I'm keen for a new pair of boots, but refuse to buy a pair that aren't quite perfect, just because they're cheaper than the ones I really love & want. I'm therefore saving all my £2 coins towards a new pair for autmn/winter 2012, so not including the money saved towards those as part of my budget.
EVERYTHINGelse is in the budget though, and I mean EVERYTHING; clothes, shoes, lingerie, swimwear ( ha ha ha) bags, belts, scarves ... the whole shabang.
I'm not doing a budget, as such, for DDs clothes & shoes, she's still growing & wearing stuff out, but I will be keeping a record of my spends.
My budget for 2012 is to be £100  + any gifted money, vouchers or those earned as survey rewards.
Yes I can do this; I have plenty of everything, but my white tops, t-shirts, shirts etc will need to be replaced at some point.
So who's joining me ?
You don't have to stick to £100, you can set your own budget if you really think you can't manage on £100; but I bet you could if you tried ( pregnancy , medical situations / accidents aside).
Membership list to follow in post number 3 after CK's post ... (or rather should I say confessional??!!!)
Lotti - you want to put your confessional up here too?? believe thread runners should confess their sins! :rotfl:

Hello .... my name is CK and I am a clothes addict, infact, i am a spendaholic. clothes are just something i can actually show for frittering away my money.
I have now seen the error of my ways and trying to do something about it.
So first start is declutter the behemoth that is my wardrobe. Although I have to say i am not guilty of not wearing things, I wear EVERYTHING in my wardrobe. I am in a job which demands my presentation to be top notch and it will be noticed if i am wearing the same outfit twice. So yes the pressure has always been on. Anyway this is no excuse as to why i have 10 white shirts??? of which 6 are nearly exactly the same.
I am sure even after my latest cull (my 6th) last year I have enough clothes so really need to reign myself in, because 1) I have a wedding to fund 2) i really do have enough clothes 3) i still buy things I regret and then wear them just to justify it....
Previously it is not unusual for me to spend around £2000 a year on clothes... and i am sure in 1 year I probably hit around the £3000 mark.... EEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK!:eek: I also have 143 pairs of shoes (but i wont be selling any of these.. they are my babies...) okay forgive me! girl got to have her sin right?????
But this year it is all going to change!
I have set myself a limit of £500 not including wedding dress or shoes, but including other wedding garb (plus vouchers) also including underwear and footwear. Also in this limit is only allowed to buy 5 pairs of shoes and 2 pairs of boots as mine are dead and holey... (so may as well remove fleabay from my life)
So far so good.... bought some boots that I actually NEEDED with the vouchers my sister gave me for Christmas and even got a 20% discount of them even though they werent in the sale.
Please post in BOLD and BIG your targets and spends.IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SO CLEVER, THEN WHY ARE'NT YOU RICH?

Hello CK!
I shall join you on this crazy challenge.
I failed miserably this year, can't believe I spent over £100 OVER my budget. I am hoping to lose weight again this year so clothes will need to be bought so I don't look like I'm dressed in hand-me-downs:D but I'm asking for money for my birthday so I can buy new holiday clothes for our 40th birthday cruise in September.
I'm setting my budget at £300 to include all clothes, underwear and footwear plus any money I get for my birthday. If I use vouchers I've earned through surveys etc. I won't count this as a clothes spend as I consider those purchases as treats
First spend of the year will hopefully be a new coat in the sales as I look enormous in my red, 2-sizes-too-big coat but as I hope it won't fit by next December I want to buy one cheaply.
Good luck! x0 -
Good afternoon all
Thank you so much for setting up the new CC 2013 thread CK- I would love to join in again, done it for several years now(only have been awol as had no internet at home for ages, just recently got it back) and it really is a great fun challenge to be part of and it really does work, so would you kindly put me down for the normal £100 - that would be marvellous.
A bit about my spending habits clothes wise - before the CC challenge I didn't have clue on how much I spent,it wasn't excessive but I was over spending on similar items , and I never "thought" about what or how my wardrobe worked for me so I would have say 6 black T shirts pretty much the same etc,or similar style.
I have always loved "the sales" and fell into the trap of buying for the sake of it - now that doesn't happen. I do like a good charity shop bargain though but again I will only buy if the item will work with the rest of the stuff I have.
My only worry is that since I started this CC challenge back a few years back a lot of my clothes are starting to wear - and you can only do so much repairing.
In fact my personal challenge for this month is to check clothes for repairs and get my sewing basket out to sort out hems, missing buttons etc.
I might even go wild and re-dye some stuff to give them a new lease of life this year:T
Anyone fancy joining me?

Could you put me down for £250 again? Ta. That will include underwear and footwear.
There will be some dyeing in my future and some repairs:)
Also, I might have a go at Project 333 till March but will confirm this before the New Year. http://theproject333.com/getting-started/‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

€500 for me please
But feel free to use £ instead if that's easier for you.
I have loads of clothes but I want to get a NorthFace jacket and a pair of Buffalo ankle boots, both of which are very expensive but would be fantastic investment items for me. I'm sure there will be other bits and pieces but I'll try to avoid Primark, etc and focus on getting the things I really want.
It's my first year doing this challenge so I've no idea how it'll work out but I'm very enthusiastic :TTotal debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -
Well I've had a think about a budget for the coming year. I bought a lot last year of clothes to fit after losing 2 stone over 18mths, sold the clothes that were too big to get rid of them and not keep them to fit back into them again.
So, what on earth shall I do? I think I will aim for £200 for 2013 as I have enough work clothes I think, plenty of trousers, spring and summer tops and bottoms. Let me see if my resolve is strong enough!
I will make a note of the budget in my spending diary to help me keep on track

Hello
can I join please? First time I've even given clothes budget a thought! I'd like to give myself a £200limit.I'll get there!0 -
HEY JOINERS! Lovely to see you all!
his missus and fedupandskint - well done on losing the weight so not surprised you went over budget, 2 dress sizes is when your trousers fall off without help so yeah you do need new clothes. I have lost around 2 stone in the past couple of years and yep have had to update my wardrobe along the way... though probably not to the extent that i did
MrsNotAPenny - of course the more the merrier, what have you spent in previous months and year? if you need to revise then you are allowed too.
emslovesmickey - all set, work shoes? do you work in construction? or high risk area?
Mags30 - thanks i couldnt find the euro sign on my keyboard... so just pout the word instead LOL! which country do you live? i want a northface jacket too, hoping the weather wont get too cold and i cna buy a second hand one from fleabay in the spring.
short_bird- wow 33 items, totally undoable for me, i mean i like a challenge but i have been known to not eat for a pair of shoes.... but if you choose to do it, love to see your progress and cheer lead you!
debbiedejay - oh good, you can help us newbies! dont worry
i will be mending, i wont be dyeing... but yep first in the mend pile is some merino wool tights that have a clean rip in a join. got some black cotton and a play suit which has a ripped pocket and then to sell on fleabay!IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SO CLEVER, THEN WHY ARE'NT YOU RICH?
