No loft-
No under stairs cupboard
No shed
No garage
:j:j
I will be getting all of those in the new place and do not want to clutter up these spaces with stuff.
Got a coffee and hot toast with Marmite on so going to sit down and watch some recorded TV - got an unwatched Vera!
Thanks0 -
:j Gers - is all your pre move decluttering now done? The whole thing is so exciting :j
Dropped off 3 bags off to a charity shop. The woman behind the counter was very grateful sadly a woman nearby grunted at me asking if it included any videos or electricals. I must admit I pulled a bit of a face and said no, and that I'm a seasoned pro at knowing what you accept all the while looking at and smiling at the other woman.
Shame really. But it's all about helping that charity which does lots locally & that's all what counts. I guess they must get bombarded with all sorts of things.
Saw an ornament in there I liked but resisted :T
A bit more of a rest then I will venture into the (code name Operation Calm) soon to be decluttered rooms which are currently a tip
:j

Finally emptied the bookcase in the backroom & removed a lot of spiderweb and 15 books for either the CS or recycling.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0

Emptied attic, took masses of empty boxes to dump, plus a vast amount of my two daughters school exercise books, kept every one of them from the age of 4, now they are 16 and 19, what ever was I thinking keeping them all that time I'll never know, all in recycling now. Took a few bag full to hospice shop and sold 14 items on ebay. Now reorganising the space up there (it seems massive now it's empty) and putting everything in labled up boxes, one so they stack easy and two so it's easier to find things.
OH has put up a hanging rail for the big winter/sport jackets and I want another up there for all my work suits and blouses so they will always be ironed. Normally when I pull out a work shirt/blouse it is all creased from being crushed in the wardrobe, this way I won't have to iron things twice!!
OH took replaced our very large 30 year old disgusting water tank with a lovely sealed rectangular one which is so much neater and smaller and cleaner, it's amazing how much space a round one takes up.
Currently going through all the house paperwork. I have all the details for my old house I sold 11 years ago to move here.....why would I have kept all those details???? Shredding/recycling.
De-cluttering every weekend until xmas, feels good!0 -

I have just discovered this amazing thread. I am a DFW so have been hanging out there... and a little parouse brings me to you lovely folk. Once my debt is cleared ( 2 paydays to go ) I intend to travel... after 8 months of severe saving...
This means only the most precious items can be saved as I do not want to pay for storage on items that can be easily replaced, should've gone a long time ago, are worthless, have not been worn in ages etc
I started last year - made over £1000 on Amazon Trade-In with books, another few hundred on eBay but there are a few more items to go until i really feel "decluttered"...
So if you would premit that I join, allow me to hit the ground running (bag and books ready for charity shops / eBay ) I will attempt the following.- Whittle shoe collection down by 5 useless pairs.
- Empty the "admin" boxes stashed with papers under my bed.
- Empty the "admin" drawer of papers stashed in my room ( I rent)
- Sell all vintage teacups etc..( I gave up tea / need the money more)
- Actually go to the charity shop with said items.
- Go through "storage items" that are in landladys loft with finr tooth comb.
- Get rid of another 30 books...
- Get rid of clothing that doesn't fit, look good, etc
- Get rid of suitcase thats just over "cabin size" and caused me to get fined once...
- Empty 4 other boxes under my bed of "paperwork"..
Thanks for having me....:o“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Glass taken to recycling, a very old stool taken to tip. Along with a home phone (screen doesn't work anymore) taken to tip. Plus an amazon sale (dvd) will be getting posted tomorrow. And I've got a charity bag to fill up. Going to sort out clothes.....again & get rid of items that are either to small or don't wear anymore.0

Welcome Ninja - what a great reason to declutter so you can travel minus any paid for storage. Everyone here is very friendly. We're honest too so if we're struggling, finding it hard or emotional we say our piece, get lots of support here and then get back to decluttering. Keep us posted in your progress.
Highland - great stuff. With clothes I got rid of anything that made me feel blah or old or whatever. Keeping only the good stuff. I have fewer/less items but I wear pretty much everything. There's a few tops and shoes I need to revisit. Keep going!
I've had a slow day. I'm definitely fighting off some flu thing as I've needed to rest today. I think I'm about 40 items behind schedule for the declutter 500 things in October. So I am going to:
1. Dig out some toiletry items to use up/target using up for a mini pamper session. Just asked hubby to do the same.
2. Sort through our pillowcases and donate any 'orphans' (minus a matching duvet)
3. Go into one of the REALLY bad rooms and declutter 3 things.
Plus take some vitamin c and cough med to ward off this lurgy :j
Update:
168. 169. Pillowcases
170. Very smoky candle used up (Pecksniffs, won't buy any of those again)
171. Meds packaging
172. 173. New unused foundations. Sealed. I wrongly counted up 12 foundations, I have 13! Charity
174. Emptied dregs of mineral foundation into a travel pot, hated the in built applicator brush that leaves bristly bits everywhere
175. Combined 2 mineral foundations into one pot. Binned broken pot
176. Bag of rubbishDeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Well done everyone! I've been at work all weekend so haven't achieved much, just a few paperbacks and more clothes. The reason why there are so many clothes to sort through is that we had loads in the loft, they have been taken out and scrutinised/analysed by me!
Still a few more to do, plus winter scarves, a few coats and various random dressing up things eg school Victorian and WW2 bit and pieces.
So although we have made progress, there are various bags to work through in the living room and bedroom.
I need to tackle my cookbooks, although I love them, I very rarely use them, any tips for rationalising them?A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.
one life, live it!0
