However I took the attitude I wanted the time off so my boss had to see the letter - and it was far more embarrassing for him than for me!

I am grateful for some of the advice I've been offered here and have said so.
You have been offered excellent advice, but you have taken offence when people have corrected your understanding. To go and moan about it on another thread is very rude.0 -

I think some of the people on this thread have been very rude to me. You may not agree with my point of view any more than I agree with yours, but I am just as entitled to say it in this or any other thread as you are.
As I have previously said, I have had some very helpful replies and I am grateful to those people.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

I've read the whole thread and I can't see anyone being rude to you. You have been rude to SarEl though who gave you excellent advice.0 -

No one has been rude to you, although people have had to reiterate their advice several times as you have chosen to discount it without valid reason. If you ask for advice you need to be prepared to hear things that may not match your own viewpoint.0 -
Please would you kindly point specifically to the rude posts so that I might see what you see?:hello:0

So op, what will you do then if you are refusing to prove the appointment and the company refuse to allow you the time off?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0
