Here it's just a bam or sometimes a 'feel bam'.0 -

Jakeys here too, usually means an alkie or a junkie type. Generally a person you don't want to associate with or a Glaswegian lol just in keeping with the east/west divide0

Never heard of twining before. And a gadgie is just a man who you don't know - it's not really derogatory.
And my hubby (ha!) would be mortified if he chapped on someone's door and they shouted 'Dad, there's some gadgie at the door!" He'd be looking down at himself wondering if he was looking particularly scruffy

Could it be whining? But that's pretty universal, not local to one area.0 -

I also can't stand "crimbo", "DS", "DD" and other variations of such nature. do you really refer to your kids/husbands etc. as "dear" at all times??
But it's internet lingo. I don't say "L-O-L" when I find something funny "offline", I laugh. I don't turn my head sideways to stick my head out, but I type :-P on my PC. I only call my OH "OH" online and I'm sure many people only use DS, DD, etc. on forums and so on too, not literally calling them "dear" all the time.0 -

I used to think LOL meant lots of love! I think that's a better version...0 -

I've heard that expression before - I think the person who used it was from Northumbria.0
