Ford Purchase, dodgy registration!
I recently placed an order for a new Ford Focus which is due for delivery in the new year.
I signed the order agreement and was then told the registration number plate, which I belief to be quite offensive as it appears to read as an offensive word.
I asked the sales staff wether it could be changed and was informed that new registration numbers cannot be changed as they are issued automatically at ford head office.
So what to do if Ford aren't able to change it?
1) live with it, which I'm reluctant to do, if I weren't happy with any other aspect of the car I wouldn't accept it.
2) cancel the order and lose the deposit (£250)
3) purchase a private plate costing ££
Thank you and merry Christmas

No point in doing option 2, because with the £250 you lose, you may as well do option 3.0

            I'd be checking whether C11NTS is available.0

I'd ring DVLA and ask their advice - they may be able to swap it0

Indeed iirc they usually try to ensure offensive plates aren't issued and can/do replace them when they find out/
I think they have a system that is meant to stop offensive/sensitive plates being issued in the first place, but it is far from perfect, so if it's possibly offensive contact them and ask the question.
Re Private plates, I suspect if you just want a generic plate with the correct year for the car DVLA won't charge much at all (probably something like £50), as it's only "special" plates that cost a lot.
Just remember to do it via the DVLA and not a broker!0

Round my way there's a car reg YK11 FKY
Now I read that as possible fairly offensive to some if YK11 is YUCKY
Give us all a laugh as tell us what it is.0

As above, what's the reg? If we all agree it's offensive I'm sure there's something the dealer should do.0

Think it's DVLA that issue VRMS.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

DVLA would have provided a list of VRMs to the dealer, the dealer will then have allocated a specific VRM to a particular vehicle.
Last time bought a Ford I was shown a list of VRMs and could chose which one I preferred.0
