    Pingu,

When I got rid of a trojan the other day, I had to turn off system restore in order to make sure all traces of it were removed. I then started in safe mode (press F8 on the keyboard continuously as computer starting up and then it stops and you have the option to use the keyboard arrows to get into safe mode), and ran AdAware and Spybot. They picked up several items.

If we can help rather than you take it to a shop, please post what stage you are at now.

Noooooooooooooooooooo, you can do it for free, thats what the site is all about  :)

Fran is right, we will try and help you.  :)

Start from the beginning, tell us what you have on your computer ie, spybot search & destroy adaware etc

    Do you have a firewall?

It's very well starting from scratch again but unless you take preventative measures you will end up in the same boat again before long and that's not very moneysaving!

    Did you get my pm?

register and start a new thread. Tell them the problem and copy/paste the hijackthis scan. they will give you full instructions how to remove you nasties. There will be more than you have said above as they usually leave bits and pieces all over the place.

Thanks for the info. I think I have managed to sort it out but it still plays up, been deleted eventually after a few phonecalls etc, but still problems, in that my dial up connection keeps wanting to be changed etc, homepage etc etc. Just signed to Wannadoo broadband too, it's quick, but I bet it would be quicker when all the bugs are off. Thanks for the help, appreciate it.

  • It sounds as if you have more than one infestation. My recommendation about Hijack this as the quickest and easiestway to clean the machine, still stands.
