Funny you should say that, because I was thinking the same, and also Spywaresweeper picks up a thing every day that has the same letters as the Giant thing does, something like "grac", but there is no product or company information. I've been deleting it and it's there again the next day. It seems like Giant stick their own stuff on your computer in exchange for the free trial (well that's what I think).
Virus companies often give different viruses different names. I'm sure that's so that when you do a search on a virus, that company seems to be the only one who knows how to remove it.
You're right to be very careful. For example, spywareblaster.com downloads a product called BPS which installs spyware and is not connected to the real spywareblaster (which you can get from: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html)0 -

I'd recommend this one. Use the free trial version, it's a full working version, works for 30 days.0

Wild Tangent are associated with on line games and spyware, you've possibly deleted part of a program with the all scans that you've done recently but not removed all parts, if that makes sense. The computer is looking for a dll from a program it can't find.
To uninstall
Go to START > Settings > Control Panel
Double click Add/Remove Programs, Select WildTangent , Click uninstall or add/remove, follow the on screen instructions.
Open the registry editor (Click Start > Run, type regedit). Locate the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
In the right pane, find and delete the following entries ( if they exist):
WildTangent CDA
RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain
