I think I must have a Trojan because I am getting spam from myself. I am surprised thet this has happened bcos I have all the (FREE) software i thought i needed - AVG antivirus doing a daily scan, zonealarm for the firewall, I have the new XP service pack and also Mailwasher. What else can i do - for free of course! ;D

I'm just running the "Giant" scan - it removes as well, and it's found:-
IncredFind Adware
EGroup Dialer Dialer
MemoryMeter Browser Hijacker
eGroup Adware
Remote Password Stealer Password Hijacker
Ncase Browser hijacker
These weren't picked up by AdAware or Spybot. I think it's a 3 month trial but if it really works better than the others it might be worth paying for! I still haven't got rid of my problem completely but the above sounds hopeful.Torgwen.....................

That's just reminded me, my son said the other week that his online game (Mir) had been hijacked and some of his hard earned heroes had been removed. He contacted the makers and got them reinstated, but the password hijacker could have been responsible for it. ???Torgwen..........

Thanks for this Fran,
I've just found 13 spyware items including 4 keyloggers. Its scary that S&D and Ad-aware missed them. I hope it has not removed things I need, will find out later I assume. I got it to create a system point just in case.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
I found LOADS of spyware, keystroke copying progs, password hijackers etc etc, AND as i suspected a Trojan. Thanks Fran for letting us know about GIANT ;D
However, I wonder am i the only one to be suspicious of free software? Do software companies make viruses so that we will get their software to remove it, then make more viruses so that we upgrade?
Are they getting info from our computers as part of the 'cleansing' process?
Im not paranoid - honest! ;D Just love a good conspiracy theory to get my teeth into!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Funny you should say that, because I was thinking the same, and also Spywaresweeper picks up a thing every day that has the same letters as the Giant thing does, something like "grac", but there is no product or company information. I've been deleting it and it's there again the next day. It seems like Giant stick their own stuff on your computer in exchange for the free trial (well that's what I think).Torgwen..........
