Leaving Halifax because they keep blocking my debit card

It only happens if you use your card X amounts of times in a certain time frame.

I think from a banking prospective they cant win, as if the transactions was dodgy and the bank did not act on it all hell would break loose.

I've baned with Halifax for a few years and not had any problems until this week. I was buying an expensive watch on line (from Goldsmiths) and my debit card rejected due to security. I had more than enough funds available. As soon as I completed the Halifax on line security, which failed, I was then called by Halifax automated security which I passed and then returned on line and completed the purchase.

A bit of a PITA, first time it's happened in the UK, although I seem to have problems if I try to use in the US.

If the banking system fails, society will fail. That's why so much effort has been put in to keeping it going.

Unfortunately neither the banking system or society are perfect and both will have their ups and downs.

It will all fall apart one day. Within ten years? Probably not. Probably not within your lifetime or mine.

Had same thing happen to me today they stop my card because I had paid my 3 bills and brought some stuff off amazon they told me they thought somebody else had made the payments when I pay 3 ever month I fed up with this bank they don't seem to care they are messing you about just hoping that 3 payments are going to go thought now if they don't Im going to go to the bank and tell them they can ring 3 and tell them why they are not going to get paid :mad::eek:

I can tell you that won't happen....

Retailer already know that they have not gone through and why.

Why don't you pay the bills via internet banking?
You verify each payee by phone once only and then easy peasy!

You'll then only use the card for actual purchases like Amazon and have less chances to be blocked.
