British Gass EMERGENCY - what a joke

I have an annual contract with E-on, which I pay monthly. I usually wait 6-7 days for a call-out but on 17 December they took my additional £50 call-out fee and then said they could not repair my heating until next year (2 January 2013).
Does anyone actually repair central heating quickly?
:exclamati
Why on earth are you giving these idiots your money?
The reason why you cant get stuff fixed promptly,,and it isnt just you,is that the Great British Public wants everything cheap. If its a person with a toolbag, they cant be trusted and even so ,they want him cheap. Thats why carp companies never have sufficient well trained skilled staff and its why they cant fix stuff properly and in a reasonable time frame. All they have are a small number of guys racing round like loons, rushing and being forced to do so many jobs a day. They dash in,order a part and depart..simples. The name of the game is that if you havent a clue whats wrong, you tell the punter you need to order a part and then either dont order it or order it for a day when your off.
You simply cant get good service for cheap money.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Just accept you can't get anybody to come out around Christmas, because you wouldn't do it for your customer/office.
Calor gas heaters, fan heaters, kettle to boil water.
Get the boiler serviced in August, NOT November, when every other mindless zombie is trying to get an engineer as well.0 -
And whilst we are at it,and not wanting to digress too much...if you are a Corrie fan and after watching Monday evenings episode you decide that your Turkey and Stella induced gripe could indeed be CO poisoning after all then consider this...If you call the gas emergency service they will likely take you at your word, cut your gas off and refer you to a Gas Safe Engineer. You can then call him/her..pay him New Year rates and he will come, check your equipment and carry out a lengthy atmospheric assessment. This could easily take a couple of hours. Would anyone like to speculate how much that would cost? I'm thinking £150 and up. It amazes me that people will spend money on all sorts of rubbish, but basic stuff to save your life they don't bother with. We have CO detectors, fire alarms and a fire exstinguisher (sp?). Didn't cost alot, from memory around £50-£60 all in-how many people spent that on booze or a load of food that they didn't need in the last 2 weeks.

If we didnt have money or terms and conditions perhaps the vulnerable amongst us would not be vulnerable anymore - I would like to ask where the love has gone - but you would call me insane - if you did then that would make me happier than I already am - I wouldnt swap places with anyone.
Happy New Year from the asylum :beer:0
