How you get that price?
Wake up, smell the coffee, do your research and get on the phone to them! Read the rest of that thread for more examples.

Well done, hope that your are happy with AOL but don't install their software as it is not necessary - let the router do the connecting for you and then you can use the browser of your choice i.e. Firefox etc.

CPW now owns AOL , thats why they are offering platinum for £10 if your exchange is LLU enabled.
Ive been with AOL a few months now, £9.99 for Silver had no problems at all always reliable0 -
I was on AOL dial up during my darkest days. I still shudder when i think about it.

I just switched to AOL (silver) from MAAF( just 2 days back) for £14.99/month, first month free and a free wireless router. My exchange only support upto 2MB speed. everything went fine average speed of 1.5 MB
Then I saw this thread and called them and said the magic word "cancel" and price dropped to £9.99 /month and a promise to upgrade to 8MB whenever my exchange is ready for that speed.0 -
cheers for the advice.
I rang them today and said iwanted to cancle because i knew of other people getting cheaper deals than me.
They asked what deals. so i told them i knew people on £9.99 deals. He came back with some excuse about having there phone service.
He offered me the top package for £17.99. Better than what i was paying i suppose0 -
No real complaints from us about AOL.
In fact, they were REALLY helpful when we had pc probs, which were nothing to do with AOL - but still went thru everything to double check, while we were on the fone to them.
Also just renegotiated to £9.99 for 8mb!

AOL's fine if you're in an area with good bandwidth available. I've been trying to help someone who has had a nightmare experience with AOL and their abysmal customer support. In January 2007 we checked broadband providers and the only one which indicated they would be willing to provide a service was AOL. This was because the customer is 10 km from the local exchange. Nevertheless 512 kbps was promised.
This of course never materialised. However trying to contact the 1 customer services number is both expensive and a waste of time, with 15 minute delays as you're transferred between 1st line, 2nd line tech support and Accounts Dept the norm. It doesn't end there. If your issue is anything off script our foreign friends don't know what to do other than carry out endless and pointless tests. This has happened 3 times since February and the contract still hasn't been cancelled by them.
We even got a detailed report from a BT broadband engineer who mentioned that AOL are well known for this practice and are only in it for the profits from the phone calls (0870 number 7.5 p per minute). He also confirmed that the phone line in use is on the end of a long line, which will never support a meaningful bandwidth without an upgrade, which is around 3 years away. AOL tech support didn't seem to want to know about this.
My advice would be is you sign up to the silver broadband service (12 months contract) and experience a problem with connectivity contact AOL support straightaway and cancel the contract. If they offer help get them to phone you back as they'll try to milk the phone call duration. Apart from this if you've got any issue with bandwidth, having used the readily available broadband checkers, avoid AOL. I've been with Plus for 2 years with no problems at all.0
