  • Looks like it! I really want to get on the property ladder, but I'm like you - will be ready to buy in 2015-16. It's probably a reasonable time to buy, we will know by then whether the housing bubble will burst...

Interestingly, I spoke to an acquaintance who works for a developers, he mentioned that they are really struggling to get certain materials to build with at the moment, because all the factories that make the supplies have shut down. By 2015, they will either have run out of bricks, or the factories will start up again, and houses will be pouring out.

If the prediction is correct, it will be a buyers market, if you have the money, after all the foreclosures the banks will be looking to get anything for the houses.
I was being nosey as a friend has just bought her second villa in florida to rent out and i put in a search engine villas for sale and then lowest to highest. i seen 3 + bedroom homes selling for £3000 in detroit. that is crazy! you would think they would rather keep having mortgage payments coming in, at reduced amounts than selling what was normally 60+thousand pound homes for £3000!

  • :santa2: Hello Lovelies!

Feeling very Christmassy! I suppose this is acceptable seeing as it is almost December! :)

    Anyhew....

    CONGRATULATIONS SPAGBOL!!!!

So pleased that all went well and your lil bub arrived safely!! :T

LolaLemon - Congrats on clearing your debt for the year, it is such a welcome relief to be able to scratch another one off! You should be very proud!

All of this talk about the housing market and interest rates does make me somewhat nervous as I realise how little I actually know/understand about it. 2016 is a time period that I would be looking to buy- so I shall be very attentive to any new news! And hope to educate myself in the matter. I have been so focused on tackling debt, I haven't really paid attention to much else :o

I am feeling just a little bit excited at the moment...one more sleep and I will be debt free. I can not wait for it to be official, and can't keep it to myself! EEEp! :j I'll be joining you guys next year but on a saving mission! (you haven't got rid of me just yet!) ;)

I've reduced my overpayment this month as i want to make sure i have enough money for christmas but can't wait to start tackling this CC properly next year, especially as i'm not sure what will be happening with DH's job.
He works for TFL and there is a massive shake up happening next year, where they are cutting job roles and everyone is being displaced but they have yet to disclose any of the new salaries, so we have got to get this CC paid asap!

Exciting times LoveaDove, can't wait to be in your position :j

I thought that was mostly down to the sub-prime mortgages they all had over there. I just don't see houses ever falling to £3000 over here, but the prices have to come down. It's unfortunate, because it will leave some people in negative equity. I'd feel really guilty buying a foreclosed house though, like it'd have bad Karma or something... :o

Loveadove excited for your debt free update tomorrow!

We're looking to buy in 2017 purposely waiting for the bubble to burst. I'm convinced this whole recession was contrived by the wealthy. Interest rates have never been so low, yet they're still drinking champers whilst the rest of us work our bums off.

Just want to say a Huge Thank You to Spagbol and MiniCooper for running this thread during the time I've been a part of it! My original Debt Free Aim was for January 2014, but this thread encouraged me to push my debt-free date forward by over a month so that I could give myself the best Christmas present ever...debt freedom!! Thank you also to all the other challengers- I love catching up on your posts, celebrating progress, commiserating and re-planning set-backs and general chatter!

Looking forward to setting a Saving Goal for the next challenge :T
