Morning all - I have decided to have a productive day seeing as Im still off work. So round two of washing is is, been to get Euros for my week skiing tomorrow. (This was a free holiday, otherwise I would not be going!!!) I have only bought £150 worth of Euros so I am going to have to be very careful on what I spend! Also, just need to finish my Spanish Assignment, which if i get off this site, I could have done by midday!! then pack up to go home, then pack to go skiing when I get home!Halifax CC [STRIKE]£1322.88[/STRIKE] £0 :j 11.9% Virgin CC [STRIKE]£1534.76[/STRIKE] £1384.76 0% until AUG 13. Sorry to hear about your health problems, you are probably better off cutting things out than risking your recovery by getting too tired. Woman always try and do too much!
I find my monthly budget spreadsheet helps - its a bit like losing weight at slimming world etc, keeping a track keeps me motivated. I took it a bit far this year, but I added up what I'd spent on all the categories over the whole year and it gave me some ideas where we are still spending too much.
I also love the Asda Price Guarantee - I took my receipts in at christmas and they gave me £12 back from the price matching plus a £5 off voucher. I always manage to stick to my budget in there and dont bother with the money off tempters from elsewhere.
The other thing I am going to try and do is cut down what I live with, motivated by an article in Good Housekeeping magazine about a man called Dave who decided to live only with 100 things. I wont be able to get down to that level, but I am going to be ruthless and sell lots of things
Good luck with everything
Was that the current issue? I would be interested to read it. :cool:affordmylife wrote: »morning everyone.

Still feeling v poorly today
Also v tense as DH gets paid on 6th but rather than pay him today like normal companies we have to bite our nails until 7th which is the day our mortgage comes out
This happened last year and I cancelled the DD (on advice from mortgage company) and we could see his wages to shuffle around from the saturday so fingers crossed that happens this time!!
Hope you feel better soonfallenwiccan wrote: »I can't believe it's only the 4thdon't get paid until the 30th
Nor me! I think I paid too much towards the CC this month and have left myself short. I've got my 30th birthday celebrations to think of before next payday, too!fallenwiccan wrote: »I'm skint tooThink the boy gets paid on the 21st, we at least have money for food and things but my money is gone which makes me feel like we have none as I see it that way so I don't spend from the joint account.
Sure car tax is due this month too, haven't had letter yet though
Watch it as I've had a couple of instances where my reminder hasn't come through in time. If you have your V5 certificate you can buy online without the reminder.

Can I join please. I think paying 8.5k is more realistic thats why I joined the "Pay as much as you can" challenge this year.
BUT I feel if I join this challenge it might help me push further and manage to somehow pay off more than what my budget says I can.
So I am going for the full whammy.

Not the same article but I read a book last year about a lady that challenged herself to live on £1 a day (excluding rent) so she had to include all travel, food, drink, entertainment etc. she did really well!
I will try and remember her name but you could try googling it and getting it from the library. I really enjoyed the story, she even went backpacking and working abroad and had a romance!DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -

Yes, I treated myself to a subscription for £22 so its the Feb edition that should be in the shops now. Also, if you google "man lived with 100 things" you will find his blog, but it was a bit deep and meaningful for me:)
I've decided to start tomorrow! My poor children - my 2 year old already gets suspicious if I put a toy in a plastic bag:xmastree:POMDB Xmas 2013 Board - Paid off £12k in 2012 :j:j :xmastree:

Course I can R-Othey are mostly ladies on there but are so very friendly and the admins are very on top of the spammy trainers posts that seem to crop up on every selling site

Now ladies you really should have taken a leaf out of my book before christmas 'We have to get rid of some old toys kids as we dont want Father Christmas coming down the chimney and deciding you already have enough to play with do we!' was amazing how many toys appeared by my chair :rotfl::rotfl:.
I also get little one to hand them over to the buyer if we sell on FB and collect her 'pennies' for her money box, she loves getting more pennies though a true mother of her daughter, she must have brought me most of her room by now to sell . .
