DH used to be paid on the 6th so I feel your pain! Although it was quite nice having a week or two between pay days...DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0

OH and I are both paid on the same day now. Just called up our house insurance people, the quote for the new house for contents is now £180 instead of £500!!! Might just pay it off in full when I get paid. It does mean we can insure our bicycles this year with the extraDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Payday for us was Friday gone. We find it a lot easier to manage our finances now we get paid on the same day. We used to just spend his wage til I got paid, then spend mine - no rhyme or reason to it at all.
Now we're set up so Hubby's wage pays all the bills and mine pays for everything else/savings, a much more focussed approach.
Chocaholic, the main reason I managed to pay off my debt was because I got a new job with a much better salary but also I curbed my spending. Definitely having two good wages and no children helped us. I imagine kids can be very expensive and difficult to say no to.
If you're not going to be giving DS £100 a month now he has a job, make sure you put it straight to your debt - it's £1,200 a year!0 -
My payday excitement has been and gone ... I don't get paid again until the 15th0

Yes true, to a certain extent we did this! We also had a nailbiter every 1st of the month as the major DDs came out of my (lesser) salary and sometimes it wasn't quite enough  Now he gets paid about 5 days after me but still before the 1st, we hope to pay all bills with his salary and use mine for food and debt overpayments. Should be good practice for trying to live on SMP.
Re: kids and spending, we found we wasted less money when we had kids (meals/drinks out, hairdressers, clothes etc) but the essential stuff we needed to buy was much more expensive. So I guess tightening your belt and going back to bare bones is easier without kids. We did pretty well last year with two but I had a second income. This year hasn't been so easy but from this month DH has a higher salary so I'm hoping we can turn things around!DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -
As I have three p/t jobs I have three paydays, two jobs pay on the same date each month and the third is every four weeks, so it's confusing trying to work out my money. Wish they would all pay on the same day.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000

that's a lot  we only paid £6.38 a month for contents insurance :rotfl: we used to pay £22 though.0 -
i have good news :j
boiler service guy reckons we are using so much gas because the hot water tank is not insulated and when we heat water it goes cold straight away because there's nothing in it to keep the heat in. hence why upstairs is like a sauna and the water is just cold :rotfl:he has recommended a full system change i.e. including boiler, but he said at the very least the tank has to be changed. he reckons we will see a difference in the bills just by changing the water tank.
the bad news is my shower is broken!!!0 -
Eugh the part of the month where I turn into a green-eyed monster as you all get paid and me and minicooper have to wait an extra week
Spagbol, nice one on the mortgage saving baby should be happy with that
Tell me about it!
My car went for its MOT today - nail biting stuff! So glad though as it only had one fail for its rear suspension coil (it's a Renault, need I say more?) Total cost £97 inc MOT cost! :T can split the change between savings and holiday spendsI had budgeted around £350!
