Hi all, I know I don't come on very often but CONGRATULATIONS to moneyless mac, really well done, what an achievement:j:j

Im paying mine off slowly but at least its coming down and not going up. I decided last month that with all the hard frugalling my life was one big nothingness and I know some people will say it should be like that until all the debt is paid, but it has really been getting to me, soooo I have been to a few free places and starting knitting and sewing again (mainly using up stores though) so nothing too drastic but it makes me feel soooo much better:) anyway thanks for all your help and Im still on track to get rid of the two CC's by Xmas

hmmmm. had a chat with my neighbours about utilities today! They pay £30 electric, £40 gas and then are on a water meter. we pay £40 electric, £80 gas and £50 water beause we're not on a meter. i wonder whether we'd be better off going on a meter for gas and trying to control how much we use. it's ridiculous, considering we only use it to keep the water hot!

I didn't know you could get gas un-metered! Definitely go for it, it looks like there is a good amount of room for savings.

    I can beat that.

    I pay £15 electric and £27 gas.

That's just £504 pa, for both.

i've just emailed the LA to see if we can change to a water meter and an electric standard meter, then try and see if we are better off on a dual fuel plan. we will speak to the gas company and see if we can get a cheaper tarrif for gas!

we currently pay £170 a month for gas, electric, water  i definitely think there are savings to be made on water, not sure about the others though.

I can beat that! We pay £40 for both gas and elec - £480 a year!
Its mainly because we both work full time so dont spend too much time in the house and its a tiny economical 2 bed new build. Our account is account £40 in credit having had a bill last week.

Our water usage is £18 per month on a meter, but i set the DD at £20.

amr your bills are definitely too high! Even of you can't change to a meter, ask if there is a cheaper gas tariff... I'm not sure what give there is on non-metered office, but speaking to people who work for the water company, they say it's always worth calling to ask.
