Just 9 days til pay day, and I'm resisting having to take money out my target to meet the end of the month. It's been a really really tight month, but I'm just going to be as frugal as I can possibly be this week...
Been distracting myself from spending by going to the gym lots this weekend which is always a good thing, except it's left me eating myself out of house and home!0 -

5 days til pay day for me but i don't know how much i'll be getting paid as i don't know what the sick pay process is! if it's 3 days non-pay or all non-pay or all pay or all part paid... etc... nightmare
i'm hoping i'll get around £900 after tax but that actually might be a bit optimisticquite worrying really, below £900 i think i'll be upset but i really needed to recover!

That's quite frustrating, is there not a human resources page on your company intranet? If you have a company intranet? Some companies are easier than others, but I think they do it on purpose so you don't risk taking any days off! As long as you can pay your rent for the month, that's what matters. And don't forget you'll have the higher tax allowance this month!0 -

In my contract it just says 'we may pay you for your sick days' well that's really helpful :rotfl:HR are so overwhelmed ATM that its impossible to get an answer for them and the intranet isn't finished yet. so i'll just have to wait and see!
my OH got an extra £50 from the tax allowance, after sorting out HMRC! :T
just done the calculator, i get an extra £24 a month after tax! well it's better than nothing - that almost pays for my car insurance per month.
can't believe how few payments i've made this month!!!! hurry up pay day so i can spend some money on debt busting haha0 -
hmmm. had a chat with a friend re: sofas. she said she had real problems trying to pay hers off as they were so dodgy!!!! its kind of put me off paying it and ive approached it a dif way - its not in arrears and i can comfortably afford repayments. realistically we wont be buying a house any time in the next 18 months, by which time the sofas will hae been paid off anyway...it's £50 a month at the moment so a really small amount. the money we put aside to pay it off would be nice for the savings pot.
what's your thoughts, DFWers?0 -

I think if it is more hassle to pay it off in one go rather than pay it monthly as you are, you may as well carry on paying it monthly, as long as you don't go and spend the money you would have used to pay it off!!SPC9 #125 - £816.85
SPC10 #125 - £851.81
SPC 11 #7 - £968.46
SPC 12 #7 - £2682.90
SPC 13 #7 - £4829.85
SPC 17 #7 - £7313.630 -

the money would go into savings!we 'only' pay £50 a month towards them so it's not a huge amount. and as everything else will be paid off...

How do people deal with the interest on their credit cards when it comes to this? Because I've just paid £18.16 off my credit card but that was just most of my interest for the month being paid off, so how do I calculate that into my total?! Or do I just ignore it?
Last year I ignored all charges and interest and even though we paid off over £17k, £3k of that was charges  This year I thought I'd try a different way and just declare the capital minus charges (same as kerri does) but to be honest I think the sightly less honest way was better for morale!triple_choc_chip wrote: »Hi All
Two bits of good news:
1. The last payments for April have been made and I'm officially bled dry until the end of the month, but the new total is a spiffalicious:
no 74 £3287 / 7860 41.82%
2. I've received confirmation from co. formally known as egg that I am due a PPI refund of £1559!!!!!! Fantastic stuff as I have always refused this option and therefore didn't know I had paid anything - bit scary  - anyway I hope to receive this well before xmas which means I have a good chance of joining the 'paid off roll of honour thingy' waaaaaaaaay before the end of the year.
Woo hoo! :jHi! I've only just found this thread! I've got credit card debt that as of February this year i planned to pay off by the end of 2013 ...is it ok if i join here late? I've just finished redoing my budget and organising my existing finances so i'm technically starting from scratch as of today with new more realistic figures (my budget before was a bit of a guess and hope for the best which really didn't work well hence the debt!) Anyway, i want to pay off £5,608.28 by the end of this year. £1,400 of that is actually 'emergency money' to top up of the joint account by the middle of June ready for OH's pay changing from weekly to monthly. But i'll still class it as a debt for this challenge because without it we will end up in more debt and charges.
Yes of course, welcome  and sorry for the delayYou are #169
