I received the money for DH old phone today and couldnt resist transferring this to the mortgage account to pay off the secured loan along with a bit of save the chang3 from my bank account.

    New total is:

    #82 £2102.42/£18458

I havent received the settlement figure for the secured I requested about 2 weeks ago so will give them a chase tomorrow as they have said I am paying more capital off than I calculated I was each month so that should adjust my figure downwards a bit.

Planning to pay another £1250 off this month when DH bonus hits the account on Friday which inlcudes paying all my college fees so one less debt to worry about:). I am still way off where I should be to clear/offset the secured loan by the end of the year so I really need to get my finger out, just not sure how as we have already done the bill cutting and fleabaying everything that moves steps.

    Hi everyone,

Its been a mixed month for me - our first full month with an offset mortgage and I'm still struggling to get my head around keeping money in my account rather than paying the bills as soon as i can. All our debt is on 0% so it makes sense, but I Love seeing the balances come down.

We've redecorated DS's room which has cost a fortune - it needed replastering and some electrical work, but I'm pleased to say that I've actually paid cash for all of it apart from the furniture (that went on the 0% cc:o) It does look lovely though :D

Well done to all those making payments - I read every day, but I don't post much now.

Things still not looking great on the % (I'll update properly tomorrow), but we have received the PPI cheque of £1810, which we paid in on saturday and are now waiting for it to clear! It will be our saving grace! Didn't get my holiday pay from work, so I've sent them a letter asking what's going on and have also handed in my notice. Hopefully if they pay me it next month it will clear my overdraft :D

    Reporting for duty Sir!!!

After payday on Wednesday I managed to make a payment of £1500 on the credit card, but I also had to make some purchases on it and then there's the interest. So figures are 019 £1390.41 / £4604.82,
not too bad but a lot less than I was hoping for as our bonuses got reduced this year. I blame the media all the rubbish about bankers bonuses, so the banks say "hey everyone look we've reduced the bonus pot by xxxxx, aren't we good?" but of course the million pound club still get their bonuses it's us plebs down the bottom end who actually suffer. And their taking our pensions away, reducing our sick pay by half and chopping 2-5 days off our holiday entitlement (depending on what grade you are!) This is all from a bank that never took a penny from the tax payers. And breath!!!!!! Sorry rant over :o

It's daft how excited I'm getting for making payments tomorrow! Looking forward to pay day on Thursday, except it's going to be a 5 week month next month  But it will also have a pay rise, higher tax allowance and overtime pegged on at the end of it :T

Well done on all the payments so far :T
