Craftymummy - I almost bought cranberries today too because they looked so fabulously festive but, like you, I wasn't quite sure what to do with them. Hoping someone pops up soon who can tell us. :D[/QUOTE]

I've a nice kinda mince pie recipe which you add cranberries and marmalade to the mincemeat. Can post it if anyone interested. Yum. Having said that I think I bought a pack of cranberries about 3 christmas ago which I've frozen and now use them. They're fine and very mse!:p

the other thing I've done is use them as decoration in a vase with flowers. You need to vases on that fits inside the other with a gap inbetween. Fill the gap with cranberries and put flowers in the center vase. Looks good and dead simple x

Oh Junior J, that's so sad that she's so upset although of course it also shows how much she's enjoyed you being there. Have a safe journey home.

Thanks for the heads up on the cranberries Freespirit.

No sign of DGS2 yet so it looks like DD1 is going to make her due date after all (Sat 30th) after thinking he'd be a couple of weeks early. I'm going to bed every night expecting to be woken up by 'the call' to go over and stay with GDS1 while they go off to the hospital. DGD and DD2 are coming for the weekend and I'm really looking forward to it - will be the last time I see them until Christmas so going to make the most of it.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Not sure if it needs fresh, dried or frozen cranberries but white chocolate and cranberry muffins would be lovely. Or add them to chocolate brownies?

    Edit-these pancakes looks yummy!!! http://www.coastalliving.com/food/kitchen-assistant/15-mouth-watering-cranberry-recipes-00414000072665/

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • Just checking in, thanks Namamia for checking up on me, all good but work and household completely manic. We have an EV visit next week so have all the organisation ontop of day job to get sorted and loads of work to mark all of a sudden! Lounge is a building site, why do I do it to myself, it was this time last year too!
Hoping things will die down after the 5th,
I do still catch up when I can love and festive wishes to all.

  • Freespirit, have you got an easy recipe, one that will last too as I'd like to give them as Xmas presents. Thanks

Yep sure its a Good Food recipe,
    225g cranberries (fresh or frozen)
    100g sugar
grated zest and juice of one orange
    glass of port (85-120ml)

Put everything in a pan and put on a gentle heat stirring until the sugar has dissolved

Then simmer for 5-8 mins until the cranberries are softened and the sauce has thickened

Allow the sauce to cool then put in a rigid container and keep in fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to 2 months.

  • JJ it just shows what an amazing godmother you are :) I hope you enjoy the Christmas market today!

Well, DH had his procedure yesterday and they have said they can't find anything glaringly obvious wrong, which is great, but doesn't explain what is causing the fluid. One of the cardiac techs told him that providing nothing else is thrown up during analysis, he can come home today - I'm not holding my breath ;)

I'm really happy nothing obvious has shown up, but also a little perplexed and worried they will just send him home - this will mean the last two weeks has all been for nothing, as he will start inflating with fluid again. Plus we still haven't heard anymore about his hydrocele repair, which is the whole reason he wanted to be admitted.

I'm losing a bit of my positivity today - the shop made £0 again yesterday, and it's just a constant worry - we still owe £1.8k on a credit card because of it, MOT and car tax are due next month, and we are still struggling with money - sigh.

Fingers crossed he will be home today. I did see that Southampton General were closing wards because of the Norovirus, so home would be best at the moment as it would be awful to contract that as well as all the other worries. x
