Wuvvie-you are doing the right thing taking it slow and on dds terms for now.
A few years ago i fell out with my family and had no contact for 2 years although i did make sure dd kept in contact.
Once something like that happens its very hard to back down and eventually there will be the time to discuss whats happened.
In my situation we all agreed a lot of stuff was said in the heat of the moment and it was to be forgotten.
It will get better its just going to take time .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Happy Sunday everyone, at least it had better be!
What a lot is happening on the thread, Pigpen, rant on hon, total KH you have done so well, and your children are well able to choose, even the youngest will soon realise that he is a waste of space.
Chrissy G hope it goes to plan xxx you have made amazing achievements this year, go you.
Wuvvie, bigger than baby steps there in the right direction, with dd, they surely don't know the heartache they put us through, they haven't had the life experiences yet,
Nanamia, hope all goes as well as possible for your dear, near son, you are so kind and caring, he is lucky to have you in his corner.
OMO you are right about the prices, I am lucky that I still get my pensioners discount at M&S so the offers there are affordable, but my main shop is also Aldi, although l save my morrisons mile vouchers all year and buy the turkey and a ham with them.
Yesterday I managed to sort out the present stacks, and the nibs ones are equal, but their parents not so. It seems DS1 is not getting as much as the others, thinking cap on.
Halfcost have 20% off everything and free delivery over £5 spend, so l ordered wooden picture clocks for the 4 little boys, they were meant for personalising but l will do that myself when they arrive.. at 80p each l cant go wrong (or can l?)0 -
im taking myself off to a garden centre later, oh & dd are going to the retail park [rather them than me!] now and again i need a couple of hours of "me" time.
Hope you all have a great day. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
told my boy today that santa wasnt quite ahem you know. hes quite young to know (9) but he kept asking questions in a way that i would have had to literally lie. i kept saying oh yes its nice to beleive etc but he has been told in school and it was hard for me. ive never told my girls but at 16 and 18 i think they have an idea. afterwards he said he was a bit sad and i said oh no shouldnt i have told you and he said no maybe not. i was gutted but my daughter said i did the right thing.
sorry i dont reply personally to you all like some of you do but i do read and take in everything you say. especially all those who have good wishes for me thanks everyone
I've never done this.. I think they catch on in their own time and I just comment 'well they won't get any presents then' .. or 'Some people don't believe in God/Easter Bunny/Tooth fairy/Jesus/Holocaust/etc that doesn't mean none of it is, nor does it mean it is untrue'
Santa WAS real at some point, every myth has a basis in truth and by keeping his memory alive you keep him alive. What these other children lack is a childhood, the capacity to imagine and believe and to pass on that legacy of belief to others.
Mine can believe what they want so long as they keep it to themselves.. though mine, as they got older, have professed the existence of Santa more vehemently each year and it is a requirement in my family to pass on that legacy.. Santa is in our hearts that is enough.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

So as usually happens, my well paid plans went a bit to pot!
I did make the lasagne & managed to get what I needed (well most) at the shop but the card making is now happening next weekend as ds's bff mum called offering to take him to winter wonderland. Umm, yes please, win-win, he got a great day out with his bff & I got to wander round doing my jobs & shopping in peace. Bff slept over too so the left over lasagne is now in the fridge for lunch & I have a beef slow roast joint in the slow cooker for dinner, also need to marinade a mutton neck for tomorrows curry in the pressure cooker. All washing is done though so only need to do a quick iron & the boys wants to make Christmas fairy cakes so will make a batch of batter after brekkie.
WAS going to try to fit in a visit to watch a local rugby match but it's too damn cold & ds has come out in face spots, a sure sign he has a viral thingy, not surprising as he is full of snot & his lip are dry & crusty. Nice!!!I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Morning.:D
Will do the task list later today.
Am sitting here in bedlam with Mia laying on my feet. Am going to take Robbie to a garden centre this afternoon, when ds gets back from football. He can then take Mia out for a run on the field while we are out. He wants to watch the Tottenham game later so will have some piece.
Am looking at next years Christmas get away.
Phoned my friend earlier and we have decided on Lincoln. It's 3 and a half hours away, but once you add in tube times it won't take a lot longer than getting to London.
We will go back to London the following year. The tubes will be 24 hours by then so no running to get the last one home.
Get me, I'm organising Christmas 2015 :rotfl:0 -

Just be aware that they will only be 24 hour at the weekends, and it's only certain parts that are. Not all lines will run 24 hours. But there will be lots more info on that closer to the time anyway.
Still trying to order stuff from Halfcost...:(
It's good stuff, junior_j but the site is VERY VERY slow and it will take hours to look through the site if it's running like mine.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
