Nanamia that wallpaper is yummy - I actually like all of those on the link, glad you had to make the choice and not me. :D

Yummymummy1987 - We live in a typical Victorian semi with a narrow hallway so think I'll be borrowing the hanging fairy lights idea - it'll be like a little grotto. I know what you mean about keeping them up - maybe those little stick-on hooks? Might need to touch up the paint on the ceiling afterwards though. Could also be worth trying the blue tack that's white (if you know what I mean).
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

thank you lazysheep, thats definately it, i can use mine up now and know i can have another for christmas. i think its the cloves in it that make me think it smells of christmas.

LalaGomay that hall photo looks stunning

havent really managed my targets this week, i think i was supposed to make my christmas cake but its still just a tub of fruit soaking in brandy. ill make an effort to get it mixed and in the oven over the weekend. friends stocking didnt get started either a couple of other to makes took priority over it.
need to finish knitting a bunny for an expected baby.
finish 3 cross stitched name plaques (2 new home 1 birthday)
then i can get the stocking started
i did manage to complete 10 items for the christmas craft stall so it wasnt a complete fail.
    will do better next week

OMG LalaGomay that photo is amazing! I want my hallway to look like that ALL THE TIME! Must resist buying lights for a hallway I never spend more than 10 seconds in at once...

Actually I might look for icicle lights with a view to putting them up in the bedroom...

Picnmix - Never mind, it's over now. Hope next week is better for you and your DD.

Nanamia - you must show us when it's all finished and lovely!

I'm debating starting on my gift-buying, I don't have much to buy so I don't even really need to start now let alone in January like some people do, but I just want to get on with Christmassy things! Did at least happen to find where the cards and leftover crackers from last year were last night, so that doesn't need doing anymore. I think I'm going to get OH a Christmas jumper and make him wear it and like it, I'll be like some sort of Christmas enforcer demanding everyone love it as much as me :rotfl:
  • Free, I am still trying to catch up on thread, but with regard Cairo for your DD, it is reasonably safe as long as she is conscious of her surroundings. The army & police are everywhere, so they are doing their best to ensure safety for all, but as in any conflict, it is the minority causing the issues. Muslim Brotherhood officially banned now and hopefully, the curfews will be scrapped next week.

They are desperate for tourists as the cost of everything has doubled since I was there last year, still cheap for us, but the natives are finding it difficult, especially the poorer group, but they are still such a lovely nation (know I may have a slight bias!). I suggest DD go with a tour group, probably be more expensive, but there is safety in numbers and hopefully she will get to see the important bits to give a taste and maybe go back later at leisure when it assuredly safe.
A smile costs little but creates much :)

Peppapig I know what you mean about the wallpaper but I had colours in my head that I wanted. We've a lovely photo of DGD2 that I'm going to have put on canvas (deal bought on groupon whilst we were in Oz) and her dress is lime/appley green. xxx

I looove those icicle lights all over the ceiling.
I have one set of icicle lights I use indoors on our small white tree. You just dump them on, and the tree is covered in lights in one second flat!

Might have to seriously consider getting more for the hall ceiling though...

    that is so pretty

ordered some presents off boots with the £10 of extra points code v.happy as 2 of the items I wanted they don't stock instore locally and usually online you have to spend more to get the same bonus points

nanamia love the wallpaper hard choice as they are all beautiful its gonna look great when you've finished.those cakes are amazing how do you find the time?

Nanamia I have just got in from work and am trying to make my cup wreath.

I have decided a reality check is in order. As much as I would love to make all my new decorations, I just don't have the energy or time.
I am setting my self goals that I will fail. I can't go to work, run a home, have Robbie every Sunday and make a forest of trees.

I have had another look at the sideboard and the stags are going to take up a big chunk of it, so I may me ok with what I have.

There are a few things I would still like to make, but I am not going to add them to the weekly tasks. If they don't get made, we just won't have them this year.

Greenleaf will be mounted tomorrow ( weather permitting) as it is too windy here to spray paint in the garden right now. That will then be 2 out of the 3 things made this week. :D

Thank you Mandco that's the trouble I don't find the time and end up stressing! I'm being forced into retiring for a while, I've two more booked for October, one for November and two in December and I'm to take no more bookings. There will be no cake baking pressures for 2014 DD and DH have insisted enough is enough. I do have a wedding cake order for August but I'm quite sure I will be rested by then :) xxx
