Nic2075, I am library assistant. Let me know if you get an interview and perhaps I can help you in some way. I work with some lovely people. The main thing is that its often a very physical job, carting piles of books around. You get some lovely customers but you don't get much time to chat due to being so busy. ooh what got me a job is making sure you know all about the different services the library offers. Mainly the internet. If the library is in an area where there is a multi cultural community, its worth saying that you understand that and that part of the job is being able to communicate. (I am really good at charades now!). LOL. Oh and last thing, if you are not qualified librarian dont mention that title (librarians go thru years of training and hate what has happened to librariues whereby very few actual librarions work in libraries now, we are all assistants).
Hope that helps and im not telling you to suck eggs.( please feel free to tell me to rack off if need be!)

Thank you:A
Right I got:
Ball
Car and surfboard
Motorbike and Sidecar
Camper and Trailer
Shamrock Hamster.
I would take yours back and say you dont need 2 pushchairs! xxx0 -
thank you Flowfy and CraftyMummy that means a lot to me - yes by all means come round and complain LOL!
xxxx
I dont mind at all especially when its very busy, if a colleague says to me 'would you just stock up x' or whatever, I will do the same and say 'x and y needs doing, shall I do x and you do y, or would you rather the other way round?' etc we all work as a team and it works so well, everyone pulls together and always helps each other, such a shame she is like this, I dont think she is a nasty person, I think she is incredibly and hideously controlling! I will talk to my manager tonight - I think she spoke to her after her shift yesterday; am very lucky to have a very good manager and I know she wont just let that sort of thing go on, so fingers crossed! xxx0 -
Hi, just popping in. My only working one day this week turned into only not working one day this week
but I need the money to pay for extras and my workplace are good with me so needs must.
Don't all shoot me, but I bought the furby.:o I saw it on Amazon for 1/3 off and I had a chat to DD about it and though she was not going to have it cos she knew I wasn't keen (yes I did mum guilt!). I can believe that cos she is very into making videos about all sorts [STRIKE]of nonsense[/STRIKE] I can believe she'll do a video of one progressing to talking. The £40 it cost is also within budget of 2/3 relatives that buy for her so it might not come from us just we'll 'sell' it on at cost. The relatives all ask me to find the kids something anyway, some of them giving me the money to get it and it can be a pain trying to think of something when I'm trying to do my own shopping so this way I have something 'ready'.
My sample of baileys choc just turned up. That's being put away as a stocking filler for either DH or SIL.
Noone will shoot you down :rotfl:just because we try to save money it doesnt mean we cant spend out now and then, how restrained are you keeping your sample for a stockingfillerDD2 bought me a bottle yesterday, (the normal flavour)i have never seen this size im sure it is 35cl and she paid £15 for it i was horrified  now i could have drunk the whole bottle last night but because of what she paid i have stuck it away for xmas

Had a good week Christmas wise! so far I have ..
Got my Bethlehem Lights stuff from QVC which is lovely, the item I wanted most I unfortunatly got sent the wrong item, but their CS is very good and they are sorting it out for me, am very pleased with what I have
Got some new black jeans and a sparkly black jumper from Next to wear at Christmas - both £20 and look really nice so am very pleased - havent bought new clothes in an age!
Am going shopping friday as its my day off, have rung the stores where Im going_ Disney Store have all teh Christmas shoppers in, Lush will have their Chrsimtas stock out overnight Thursday - Primark say no Christmas throws yet, but I found a lovely red reindeer one in Dunelm which is being delivered to store near hubby's work
Got selection boxes on offer in Sainsbugs, also got candy canes (they also have a box of fizzy fruit ones!) McVities are doing boxes on mini gingerbread men with choccy on one side for £1 in Sainsbugs as well.
Also got the Bayliss and Harding Beauticology sets in Boots on 3 for 2, the sock/foot set and the mini sets, gingerbread, vanilla and chocolate, yum!
Not such a good week work wiseI did get my contract sorted and ive got an extra 8 hours a week, although will hopefully also get overtime, doing 40 hours this week
But there is a lady who who has worked on my department for years and so far Ive only every worked with her on cross over, so for half an hour or so, but the last 2 days Ive been in all day with her and on Monday I ended up in tears (which is not like me at all, I dont take things personally and Im really no drama queen at work) she was at me the whole time telling me to do this, then something else, questioning every thing I did, interupting in front of customers or talking at me in front of them, then we realised I was taught a procedure wrongly and I explained I had checked on 3 occasions in my first week to ensure I had it correct, she started to loudly demand to know the names of the people who told me! in front of colleagues and customers, so I went for a break and took a deep breath - my manager somehow heard and I had a chat with her, she is extremely good, but Im concerned it might look like suddenly Im going to have issues the very week Im made permenant! but its because Ive not really worked with this lady before so no issues have come up.
Yesterday the same colleague as soon as I arrived said that she realised she and another colleague had been constantly telling me to do different things (blaming the other colleague a bit more I must say!) but then said it was partly my fault as I was too nice and hadnt stood up for myself??!??? I decided to let it go and just get on with doing my job, I was then asked by a manager to cover on the next department so they could go for a meeting, which of course I did - this lady then demanded to know (to me) why they had sent me over there - telling me to go back with her and only go to the department to cover if a customer arrived etc etc - she isnt my manager so I stayed put where I had been told to go! then when the meeting was over I was asked to stay covering for another 5 mins so the other colleague could quickly do a job out the back (which I was perfectly happy to do) - she started kicking off, again telling me I should go back over to my department etc (it wasnt as though it was busy) and demanding to know why they needed me - it just got ridiculous, in the end I told them light heartedly not to fight over me, just let me know where I needed to be and I would happily be there - I then heard her tell the covering manager that I 'never finish a job' ... which made me furious as I always finish a job, but if I have to stop to serve a customer the job has to wait until ive done that - whereas I think she thinks you should make the customer wait until youve finished whatever other task you are doing! I was quite wound up by the time I got home and I dont get stressed easily with this sort of thing, Im going to try and speak with my manager tonight as it isnt acceptable, I know my manager will listen but Im concerned as Im new and this lady has been there a long time, so will just have to see how it goes - in my favour I get along with everyone else fine so I just hope she can see its not me being sensitive or difficult
OMG SNUGGLEBUNNY i really feel for you what a b***h all i can say is dont let her see she intimidates you, and that you wont put up with it just because you are new, i would have cried as wellyour new jeans and sparkly top sound lovely
Freespirit can I ask where your stag head came from. I was going to buy one from Next but I have been unable to see them in store yet. I thought this one would be a good size. I saw the post with the one from Matalan but they only have the gold colour ones. Sorry don't know who posted this one. Thanks
MARCO DD2 got it from amazon, i had it on my wishlist, it is bright silver (a lot smaller than it looks on the picture) but watch the price as it goes up and down like a yoyo luckily DD2 got it for £19.99 but it is now up to £29.99 it definitely is not worth that!! Yes the matalan one is good value but as you say it is only in gold colour
CUPOFCHAI thankyou, well the size of mine it would go perfectly in your 1 bed flat :rotfl:

What a nightmare! I hate hearig about bossy people in the work place. Chanes are your manager will already be aware of what she is like! I'd play dirty-next time she questions what you're doing go back to whoever told you do your task and tell then she has sent you back! She'll soon stop when she's getting questioned/reprimanded for being so awkward!Snugglebunny8 wrote: »hi all! havent had chance to catch up yet, have worked straight since friday and now working on my other job until I go to work tonight! hopefully catch up tomorrow - I hope everyone is well?

ds is cracking on with the music for the cd this weekend. only been sent 2 pieces on xylophone and marimba and the rest he has to sight read on timpani on the day. so working hard on them on the evenings, plus he helps to teach a percussion group for special needs kids and adults on a weds 6.30-7.30 then we have to be 7 miles away by 8pm for a rehearsal with his proper band until 10. good job it is on the Yorkshire moors and there is no traffic or traffic lights
trying to fit in cooking and craft etc. it should calm down after this weekend.
look after yourselves and each other

Almost every work place has one - sadly the powers that be are usually aware of the situation, but just let them get away with it as "They don't mean anything, it's just their way" Definitely speak to your manager - sending you hugs xxx[/COLOR]2024 Challenges

Snugglebunny - Yes talk to your manager. I have a 10yo who for 2 years has been going thru what you describe with constant criticism and telling what to do with a particular 'clique' of girls. It's draining for a child, you don't need it as an adult and the culprit should have outgrown it many moons ago.
freespirit66- Yes, I can be restrained re the Baileys sample. I really resent having to pay out to replace something I got free or cheap.:D Alcohol I can be restrained with. I used to struggle more with choc/sweets till I was diagnosed Diabetic.0 -
hugs snugglebunny, hope things get better. but it sounds like shes a prize one whos too set in her ways.

thanks FeistyFidget - he started it a year ago when he was doing it for his duke of Edinburgh, the volunteering bit. but they took to him and look up to him and he likes them and gets satisfaction from teaching them bits, because they can't hide their enthusiasm. so he carried on after the duke of Edinburgh was over.
it is a pity it lands on his busiest day because he does school band until 4.30 and I pick him up and we don't get home until 5 then he has to have tea, get changed and do homework in an hour as we have to leave for the percussion group in Holmfirth at 6.
sometimes I think I should say he can't do one of them, but he seems to be ok and does nowt on Thursdays.
he is getting a fee for the cd. so he is sending me on a mission for xbox games whilst he is doing it, with the cash he gets. lol. although it is in Bolton, so I will be guided by the sat nav because dh is not home this weekend, as he has to work
it stops me getting into mischief anyway.
that said....I have peeled 2 bags of shallots to do pickled onions tonight. :T0 -
Hi, another de-lurker here, been reading all the posts so far and have decided to join the party. I have got loads of great ideas and saved money from all the fab peeps in here.
Thank you
Just thought some of you would like to know that Nescafe are doing a Limited Edition Gingerbread Latte in their Cafe! Menu range. It would be perfect for Christmas eve hampers!! (£2 in Mr A) Hths
