For those with Thomas mad children like mine amazon has 'muddy matters' DVD for £3 with free delivery :) I just got one for Thomas :) £land also have selection packs. A cadbury one and a milkybar one. I picked the milkybar one up for Thomas and he now has plenty of chocolate for Christmas.

I am feeling very down today. Overwhelmed with my son's disabilities and the plans for the future and feeling a bit bitter too :(

I really feel for you. My sons disability is nothing compared to Thomas' but I know exactly how you feel. It's heart wrenching.

My Dad once told me I had a disabled child for a reason. The reason was that God knew he would be safe in my hands. I am not religious in the slightest, but I have never forgotten it. xx
  • Oh my lovelies I've been laid up with a horrible sickness bug for the last week but I had to come on now and give some virtual hugs!

I too am a fan of the saying 'this too shall pass', it's so true - even if the problem itself doesn't shift, our ways of coping constantly evolve and what seems monumental one day seems easily defeated another. We should have more confidence in our ability to cope, we inevitably put one foot in front of the other and we keep on going.

There was a single day in my life (and I'm not sharing for sympathy, but to demonstrate a point) where my father was dying, my mother was missing and mentally ill, my partner had just slept with someone else and I hadn't eaten for several days as I had not a penny to my name. I can remember keeping one thought in my mind: if all of the world put their problems in a pile, I'd still take mine back. It was silly, and I don't believe in one person's problems outweighing another as it's all relative, but I kept thinking it. This is going to sound silly, but I realised I kept thinking it because these were my problems, I owned them, for whatever reason I had them, and I suddenly had absolute faith in myself that I must own the solutions. That's not to say that kind of confidence is an easy feeling to retain, but now when I feel overwhelmed or at the mercy of something impossible, I try to think to myself, I must have the ability or resource to overcome this, or I wouldn't be facing it.

It sounds smug and all wrong written down, sorry. But if there's one thing I would give to all of you who need it right now if I could, is the absolute confidence, that whatever the problem, whatever the challenge, you will absolutely overcome it, for no other reason than you are all absolutely incredible.
  • Not had a good day :(:( DS didnt make his temp job because he woke up at 5am being sick, and now is on a right downer because he is disappointed in himself, we got the invitation today for his graduation ceremony a) i didnt know we had to pay and b) we can only have 2 tickets per family so one of the girls wont be able to go, how the hell do you call that one???

Have you checked their policy on additional guests? We sometimes limit tickets for those attending the ceremony but we have overspill rooms next door where extra guests can watch it live on a giant screen. However very often, we manage to squeeze extra guests in, if other students don't attend, or only claim one ticket. Definitely worth contacting them anyway!

  • Morning all,

Snugglebunny - love those sayings :) mine are "it will be alright in the end, if it's not alright it's not the end" and "everything happens for a reason" both of which have got me thru some very tough times. As has blasting happy music in my car and singing very loudly lol

Bunbun - hang in there, things will get better for you all I'm sure

Crowd pleaser and 04624181 - glad the kids are feeling better

Junior j - it sounds like you are keeping your spirits up despite the situation! hope you get home today

Chocymouse - hope the car isn't too expensive. Mine needs to go in but I keep putting it off due to worrying bout the cost. We have to tax it by Friday too :( also hope you get the bike!

Sequeena - I'm sorry you are struggling, I'm sure you are an amazing mum and totally agree with what OMO said

Feisty - if people do not appreciate lovely homemade gifts then they are not worth your time and effort in the first place! I would love a homemade present :D

Freespirit - sorry your DS was poorly. I can't believe you have to pay for his graduation! I would definitely do what Caitlyn said and see if you can get an extra ticket. Or does DS know anyone who only needs one and might have one spare?

    Kaya - welcome :D

Mrs giggleswick - thank you for the book tip

    Caitlyn - lovely post

Sorry to anyone I have missed, head is booming with cold and been up and down all night to DS2 :( although if he feels like me I don't blame him!

Managed to get some angry birds pjs for DS1 last night from H&M and some clothes for boys for Xmas day with 25% off code and £5 off so saved £7 if anyone wants codes let me know. Am hoping to get some toys in Argos this week on 3 for 2 as payday Friday so thanks for whoever posted that (sorry mind has gone blank)

Hugs all round, have good days Xxx

  • Sequeena - all I can do is echo OMO and Feisty's words. Thomas is so lucky to have you as his mum. Parents with disabled children have my utmost respect and admiration. My nephew was born prem and has had various operations and medications in his short life (he's 4 now). He has a stoma and is tube fed. He will not eat any other way. My brother and ex wife both have so much strength and courage and have raised him to be a wonderful little boy. Any way what I'm trying to say is it's natural to feel down sometimes but you are doing an amazing job please remember that. :D

  • Freespirit - I was only allowed 2 tickets for my graduation, but wanted my Mum and both grandparents there. I was able to request 3 tickets on the basis that it was wait and see if there are spares and also first come first served. I got 3 tickets so it is worth asking. :)

  • Currently on the bus on my 90 minute journey to work. Car still not fixed. But there is free wi fi on the bus so I'm making use of it catching up with the thread and posting replies that I would normally want to post but not get chance. :)

  • Sequeena im sorry life seems so hard at the moment. Thomas is lucky to have you. Dd1 had no major issues but she was born at 27 weeks and I went thru quite s bit of the why me stuff. I felt like no one really understood. Luckily I msde a great friend in scbu who was very like me so we muddled along together. Final straw came when a friend had just had a baby well 3 months old by then and she priceeded to tell me how lucky I had been to have s preemie so I could leave it in hospital and get some sleep. Same friend shouted urgh disgusting when we were in a coffee shop and dd1 projectiled across the shop due to her terrible reflux. Needless to say I ended the friendship. Big hugs and stay strong lovely.

Dd1 still off school today although absolutely fine. Grrr. Have a reservation at argos so will drag her down to get that and mske her not look. Lol.

    Xxx
