Have just downloaded a couple of free xmas stories for my kindle - well, its never too early for a good winter warmer right? :cheesy:
Oh, what books did you get ? xx0 -
I don't think I'm allowed to post details of them on the forum, I'll try and update my profile with them. I agree, always good to have a look at what other people are doing, and get ideas! Anyone else who'd like to, please have a look and give me any feedback you wish. I'd also love more likes on FB (I'm at 30 at the mo!)

If you are looking for a good Christmas story that isn't too heavy I highly recommend Christine Kringle - it is actually a book aimed at children but I absolutely loved it.

It is £1.98 on Amazon at the moment.0 -
Day from hell:mad: Spent most of the day trying to source accommodation for my boss's 16 year old, having to do it because I don't have the emotional attachment. He hasn't had much to do with her in her life, mainly because mum took her to live abroad when she was a toddler, but has always been financially supportive and some. They had to return to UK a couple of years ago which was a really awkward age to return and to say that mum/daughter relationship is volatile is the understatement of the year. Mum, quite rightly, had set boundaries but they have been ignored and things came to a head with mum throwing her out, this may sound drastic, but mum has a serious illness and is about to undergo a series of major operations so doesn't need the added stress. Daughter currently in a hostel on a temporary basis but has to move out shortly, it had been hoped that things would improve and daughter could move back home, not going to happen. Dad & I were talking about it earlier in the week, moving in with him is not an option either, but he was adamant that she was not going to move into an adult hostel. I did some research and discovered that there was the possibility of YMCA near to where she will be starting college, sounded perfect, she would have self contained accommodation, supportworker, but more importantly there are rules & boundaries to be adhered to. Dad phoned and told her to get her butt into the office and complete the application form with me, one of the questions was how important she considered various needs, eg drug abuse, which thankfully is one problem not to be dealt with, however, she was most put out when I corrected saying budgeting is very important to learn when she didn't think so! Emailed the application pronto but got a very apologetic email this morning advising that the criteria changed and she now needs to be in college for 6mths before she could be considered for a place, they suggested an alternative place, but we all felt that we needed more options, not to give her a choice, but to ensure she has a roof over head, so I spent my day doing that only for the little cow to say she couldn't come in to fill the applications as she was with a friend:mad: Well, there is the possibility she could be homeless and she only has herself to blame.
Sorry to inflict it on you all, but needed to offload.
On the positive side, got the Christmas tealight glasses I ordered today:DA smile costs little but creates much0 -

The christmas bake off
The snow globe
In a new york minute
I read the christmas bake off last year but must have deleted it, the other 2 are new to me though, and I will be on the look out for more! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
PF28 thanks for the book titles. I have the New York one in e-book and paperback but haven't read either of them. I really must, but I have read 3 books this week ( since I got home) . So sorry if I disappear, I will just have my head in my kindle app.
It strange that I can go months without reading a book but as soon as I start again I get the bug and read one hater another. It is much easier on the iPad as I camping make the text bigger. So many real books have text that is too small for me. I think I may need stronger glasses.
Susan42 I am fine now thanks. The bl00dy man parked his lorry right next to my car this morning, totally ignoring the fact that I was indicating to pull out from outside my house. When I asked him to pull back a bit so I could do a 3point turn and go the other way, he said ' You'll have to wait love
Not a good thing to say to me when I am going to be late for work. I will not say what my reply was but let's just say I think it shocked him. As did the 7 point turn I did. He may also have been shocked when he got back to the depot. One of my Dads best friends is his boss.
Well I have a confession to make. I have opened the Christmas Baileys. and drunk about a third of the bottle. (if not half):eek:
In my defence I have a very long 10 days. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it. :rotfl:
I really shouldn't buy the stuff. Like my Dad I drink it like water with very little affect.
I once went out with him on Christmas Eve, and we ( 5 of us) decided to have Baileys chasers. My Dad ordered the Baileys first and then drank all 5 while the the other drinks were being served. :rotfl:
Another Christmas Eve me and him went out for a quick drink and got in at 4 in the morning. But that's a story for another day.0 -
Evening everyone
FEISTY We always have left from the roses; sticks of fudge and the hard toffee - not my cup of tea!
DH spoke to the solicitor and it doesn't sound promisingThey have a 99% success rate so will only take on medical negligence claims if they are sure of a win (no win, no fee). We have sent them the time line and whole written account, will hear a definite answer next week. Typical, DH finally comes round to the idea of suing and then it looks like we don't have a case
sticks of fudge, hard toffee, strawberry creams and orange creamsoh no i hope its not bad news for you, you need something to go your way surely

Susan thank you for the cutting file
no ideas if I can import it into my basic silhouette software, but it looks lovely
Gettingtherequickly what a mare! No wonder you are so annoyed. As harsh as it sounds she may need a touch of reality. She will either realise just what the world is like and go back home (hopefully being a better person for it) or she will go the other way and who knows what will happen
After some of the stories I have heard in the last week from parents I am honestly thinking that maybe it isn't the end of the world if our dreams of parenthood never happen!
Trendy how are you doing?

I am thinking of buying a cutting machine and have looked at a few but fallen in love with the Silhouette Cameo. Have been looking at the online store to see the different downloads etc and tbh I am drooling. Is it really as good as I am building it up to be in my head?
If anyone can answer that I would be very grateful!
P.S. Am completely new to papercutting so have never done it before!0
