OK mega catch up...most of it from memory so sorry if I miss anyone/anything out

moneysavingmumofone happy very belated birthday. hope you had a great day. you got some fab bargains especially the dalek. your ds will love it. hope the uniform turns up. it is really annoying when things go missing especially they are named.

OMO hope you are feeling better. the dress your dd has chosen is lovely. prom dresses are rediculous prices:eek:

caitlyn hope you have had a fantastic day

nanamia so pleased to hear your DSIL is making such fantastic progress. your cakes are lovely. please keep posting pics I love to see them

pinksteps hope your ds' tests go well

noodles out council tax isn't frozen:( I think it must be the only one which isn't. your WI sounds fab. i too have recently joined the WI. i am the youngest but they are all so friendly I don't feel out of place. Our programme isn't quite as young thinking as yours but it is a very non traditional group. they are frowned upon by many of the local groups:rotfl: we don't sing Jerusalem but we had the AGM this week and the annual singing of jerusalem. i am so glad we don't sing it every time.

well...OH has spoken to ds' friends parents and it all seems OK so ds is going to the party. It is in one of the rougher areas so my mind was working overtime! I guess it will be well supervised.

we still haven't had a date for ds1's biopsy. ds1 had his blood test on wednesday.

Have been asked to do the finance breakdown but my cousin wants it completed by Tuesday. I'm working all day Monday and had secretly taken the day off on Tuesday to spend with DH. Was hoping to be able to pick the paperwork up and do it from home sunday, as it obviously requires a lot of concentration. My cousin has said she has no paperwork for me to take and is requesting I do it at hers - her boys are very loud and I fear for my sanity. Plus I am so behind with work it is unreal - some days I just want to crawl into my bed and hide for a month :(

And breathe Feisty :) you certainly are being tested at the moment! Here's hoping you manage to get the paperwork sorted tomorrow or at least make a good dent in it so you came keep your Tuesday rendezvous;)

Bunbun hope DS2 has a good time at his party and is safely returned at 9.32pm :) You must be anxious awaiting the biopsy will you get blood results this week? Welcome back :) xxx

Linky that dress is beautiful DD is gonna look stunning :)

Moneysavingmumofone Arrghh missing uniform I remember it well. Thank heaven you've managed to sort a uniform for Monday without huge expense. I'm glad he had his school shoes on tho :)
Thanks for the thumbs up re my friend, she looked like a different person walking out of the hospital with her smile and her swagger back :) ( still three weeks of daily radiotherapy and then another week of combined radio and chemotherapy to go) but she'll get there:) Bless her xxx Off to see if I can find anything online at George As*a thanks for the tip.
Caitlyn I'm so sure you've got better things to do than pop on here but we are all waiting for news on your special day:) much love to you both.
Freespirit have you baked? I was thinking of you earlier. DH and I were sat frozen at the football watching possibly the worst game I've ever seen and I thought ooooh I could be chilling like freespirit dancing around my warm kitchen :) hope you've had fun and that DD has had a good birthday with her pals ahead of your catch up tomorrow. xxx

ds1 didn't have a group of friends like ds2 has so this is all new. It is so hard to know what to do as there will be parents who say "oh i wouldn't let me child so THAT" and then I think I must be a bad parent! alot of ds' friends aren't allowed the freedom he has (and that's not alot compared with some)

You have to give them some freedom , if they want it. If you don't they will take it later anyway.
Because dd was allowed to parties, and was allowed a glass of wkd occasionally, she now isn't that bothered by them. Some kids in her year have got drunk and been pretty stupid at times. Dd goes to parties, but often leaves early if people start drinking. I suppose to some of them alcohol is a new thing and they just drink it. To dd it isn't a novelty so she doesn't drink it.
It is the same with telling me where she is. Some of her friends have lied about staying at peoples houses, where as she tells me, then tells who has lied.

I think as long as you are open with them about things you will be fine.

Last night people were up in arms about the Call the Midwife sketch being shown before 9 and mentioning vajazzles ( I think that's right).
It amazes me that parents can get so worried about things like that. If a child knows what one is, then they have seen something about them before.

You will never get it totally right. But protecting them from everything is just going to cause problems later. They cannot learn from other peoples mistakes, if they haven't been allowed to witness any. They have to be a little street wise, because one day they will be walking down it alone.
    ( That's what I think anyway) :D

thanks OMO that is very good advice.

one of ds1's friends at primary school wasn't allowed to go anywhere on his own and wasn't allowed to go on the week away. when he started at secondary school he went all over and only told his mum when he was on the bus:eek:
