    Happy birthday blue eyed girl!

Sold one piece of jewelry and one personalised paper cut at the fund raiser, could have been better but at least I sold something!

In other news we have had a very bad day family wise. My nan has Alzheimer's and was put in a home last August. I visited today and arrived ten minutes after my eldest auntie had left. My nan was distraught, my auntie had taken it upon herself to tell my nan her house has been sold by us, and went on to tell her we had done it behind her back :( family feuds are raging, but I never thought anyone would be so cruel and malicious as to upset my nan in this way.

    Xmas Saver!
Just had the police at the door. The house 2 doors down was burgled this afternoon between 3 and 8. They wanted to know if I had heard anything. The problem is next doors dog barks at everything, so we just ignore it.
We have been advised to write down the codes on all our goods so they can be identified if the worse ever happens.
The house was broken into at the back and they sprayed everything with furniture polish so there is little hope of getting prints.

The only thing that we have in our favour is that our house is new so just looks harder to break into. But saying that the whole back wall is glass. We have large French doors with a window either side looking out on the garden.

I will have to start hiding the laptop. I usually just leave it on the arm of the chair or sofa when we are out or in bed.

On a brighter note, ds is a lot better today. He even managed to eat 2 small slices of our nearly free Dominos pizza. (58p after cash back).
I know I shouldn't have had any (the carb diet) but I couldn't be bothered to cook something else for just me. I am sure 1 slice with some salad will not kill me. Even if it was a large slice. :o

    Evening lovelies :)

Happy birthday blue_eyed_girl, hope you've had a good day!

Re Christmas in January - my dd works for PGL in the south of France from April to September, so she is home for Christmas with us, but obviously never sees her work friends at Christmas as they live all over the UK. So they celebrate Christmas over there on June 25th! They have a Christmas meal, a party and presents. They make an effort to get dressed up ( makes a change from uniform shorts and t shirt, or swimwear ), and have a great time. At the moment she is counting the weeks till she is back in the sunshine!

Have been just about keeping up with you all, but not been posting, so congrats and commiserations where appropriate, and hugs to all.

    Take care everyone xxx

How lovely for your daughter working at PGL I went to PGL in France with school about 8 years ago and it's such a nice place and they do so much with you when your there!!

Oh how horrible some people can be!! Something like this happened a few yets ago with my mums auntie her sister had sold her house and her other sister told my auntie and cause so much hurt and upset. It amazes me how nasty some people can be.

Technically it's February today. ;) But I once held a Christmas party in July, so I see nothing wrong with watching Christmas films whenever you fancy it.

Oops! See that's how fast January went! Glad everyone else still has the Christmas urges too! :D

So sorry to hear that Fiesty you must be very upset. I often wonder what goes through people's minds sometimes and why they think its OK to do the things they do. I hope you can all get through it OK. My great-grandad had Alzheimer's and its distressing enough without people making it worse for their own petty reasons. Thinking of you. x

OMO that's quite scary, I hope it was just a one off on your street. As you say if your house is newer they'll be put off having to spend ages trying to get in. Anyway they'll probably be long gone by now!

Well I went in to town yesterday and had a mooch around some charity shops and ended up getting some good Christmas buys! I got two baskets that are ideal for some hampers I'm making for 50p each. Then I found a lovely little round tin that has a robin holding mistletoe in its beak on the lid which I thought would be lovely to package some fudge in I'm going to make this year. The sticker on the bottom says 'mug in a tin' and its from John Lewis, I'll just peel that off and use it for fudge, only £1. Then I'd planned to get a friend a couple of Christmas books this year as she's a Christmas nut too and likes reading, and I found a book called 'Angels at Christmas' by Debbie Macomber for £1. Its in immaculate condition, if its ever been read (which I'm really not sure it has) you would never know it the front and back covers are perfect sand absolutely no creases down the spine. Happy with my finds! :T
  • morning all! still catching up :)

msgigglewick congrats to your daughter! my DS has chef as his backup career, he wants to take food tech as a GCSE and hes very into cooking too - great fo me!!!

Hanley hope your poor ds is ok, mine both had it as toddlers, I hadnt had it so caught it from DD, thankfully it went fairly fast!

thank you for all your good wishes, am fine after the accident thanks as is DS (even more thankfully!) Freespirit that same thing happened to OH a few years back, woman drove into side of him at roundabout, clearly her fault, she took full responsibility then her bullying husband called and blamed my OH for it (how on earth he could contradict her when he wasnt there is beyond me) he was a horrible man as well, then we had the thing last year with the girl's parents doing the same sort of thing but luckily my OH got the place near us that they pulled in to (her parents claimed she was never at the site of the accident!!) to pull out the CCTV from their car park, he told the insurance company he would have this within a few days as rthe company had said it may take a few days to pull the right tape out etc - and then she suddenly admitted full liability as she knew it would prove she was lying.

When I had my accident the first thing I thought was that I might get screwed over as it always seems to happen, although the girl was very nice as were her parents when they came to collect her, they bought the insurance docs, called me the next day to see if we were both ok, apologised profusely etc, they were extremely nice. I got a call from her insurance company the next day, confirming she had accepted full responsibility - again very professional and nice people, my garage checked my car over underneath up on the ramps and said its fine and although my back is a little stiff Ive said Im not making a claim as there isnt one to be made from my side, it was nice to have my faith restored by finding people being totally honest! I feel for her though as she had only just past her test, such a lovely girl and she hadnt got back into the car yet when I spoke to her mum and said she doesnt want to drive agin :(
  • OMO that's horrible, poor people! but also its very unsettling isnt it? a couple of times houses in our area have had break ins and it always makes me feel very unsettled and anxious :( I hope eveything is ok xxx

Feisty how awful of her! I never understand why people have to behave in such a way *sends you a hug* xxxx

Had quite a good week bargains wise, the Domino offer (though my cashback hasnt tracked yet and other peoples became payable within 2 days! so have to put in a claim) then I got 4 jars of the sparkly Marmite for £1 a jar instead of £4 a jar in Sainsburys, we get through so much of it and nobody will notice the glitter! I got £10 payable on VO which Ive claimed as an M&S voucher for my Christmas food.

My Dotcomgiftshop order came and very pleased with it, am keeping one of the vintage biscuit tins and using one as a gift and will put nice biscuits in it, they are both lovely. Have 2 great items for DD's stocking in that order too, plus 50's Christmas pale blue napkins and matching cupcake cases.

I also got a great idea for my neighbour for her Christmas present, we got chatting about Yankee candles and turns out shes a big fan too, managed to find out which is her favourite one so I can get her one for Christmas
  • My goodness it never ceasesto amaze the extremes of human behaviour, thieves and family malice at one end and lovely gentle generous souls at the other. It must be awful being someone who gets pleasure from upseting frail old ladies.

Waiting for my absent in China family to skype looking forward to seeing the grandthings, find out their weekly doins
  • Hi all,
so much catching up to do.
Jakesbakescakes- thank you for your kind words. Promised myself I will finish scrapbook today. Never again! I've never scrapbooked before so it is obviously a very amateur attempt but I do think she will love it.

Pinknfluffy28- did I read right that tomorrow is the opening day of new business? If so GOOD LUCK, sounds like you have it all figured out :)

Caitlyn22- thanks for the link to the cruelty free consumer website.

Msgigglewick- congrats on your daughter getting into her chosen profession.

Blue_eyed_girl - Happy Birthday for yesterday, hope you had a lovely day.

Feisty-sorry to hear what happened with your nan, families can be so spiteful at times.

omo- hope your son is feeling better after such an eventful week. How is the carb free diet going anyway?

snugglebunny- glad you got an honest person for a change and that you and your ds are OK.

Hoping everyone is else is OK xx
