quidsy, im sure youve made the right decision. i remember years ago getting DS1 a buzz lightyear when they were gold dust, he was only a toddler so didnt realise how 'valuable' they were but the look of joy when he opened it was totally worth any money we could have made
i planning to be finshed cleaning and wrapping by friday, also finishing work that day but DS1s birthday at weekend so will no doubt have more baking and tidying to do between then and christmas
oh and Dh has decided we are going shopping christmas eve, as he still cant think what to get me LOL - its my fault as i havent told him what i want. (ive got him what more do i need)
hope all are well and have a really good daySPC~12 ot 124

msgigglewick that is such a fantastic age, what a shame we cant bottle that pure belief and wonder to have a swig when the world gets us tired and jaded.
our christmas eve ritual is the christingle service at the local church followed by a nice long walk to a family friendly pub (that used to have a ball pool) then a walk back looking at everyones fairylights then we watch a film or some tv and set about getting santas mince pie and sherry ready before taking the children up for a story and bed. they are a bit too old for balls pools and stories now but we still do all the rest. Anyway one year when we just had the three girls we were walking back (one walking one carried and babe in the pushchair) and saw a figure with a red cloak on carrying a large bag walking down someones drive, i thought it was the lady that then delivered the candis mag but eldest (about 6 ) was having none of it it WAS SANTA!!! she stelthed past hiding behind the push chair then got us to run home after telling her dad off for keeping us at the pub too long (it was about 7.30) she ran in the house shot upstairs did her teeth and got her pjs on then leapt into bed while we got the younger ones ready. About an hour later we heard a little voice calling can i come back down a minute is it safe. Bless in her panic shed forgotten the mince pie sherry and carrot. Even now at 27 she still says she knows for a fact santa visits children who believe because she saw him.
This year weve got 2 of the girls coming christingle and pub with us and their partners, and DS1 who will be 19 at the weekend has actually said hes told the friend whos having a christmas eve party hell be late as he has some 'family stuff' to do first. DS2 is made up as he blags the christingles off everyone and tries to keep at least one alight while walking away from church to toast the jellybabies on. they used to have sultanas on but a few years ago they changed them to jellybabies.
must admit it does look a bit pagan haivng jellybabies skewered on cocktail sticks below the burning candleSPC~12 ot 124

Nanamia-glad the pressie went down well. I don't imagine they get too many people bringing gifts, so it must've been a lovely surprise.
Msgigglewick-cute pic! Bless her.
I'm off to get my train to Gloucester in a few minutes. Hopefully I'll get chance to pop in and keep up to date with your news, but if I don't, have a great few days and if any of you are at Worcester Xmas market on Sunday, look out for me. I'll have a penguin Christmas jumper on and probably swigging mulled wine!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
