Hi, I was talking to a member of m&s staff today who said managers reductions (or last reductions) are being done differently from now on. It used to be each store manager decided on the designated day what to put everything down to and hence the £1 & £3 stuff up for grabs. Now what is happening s that head office are controlling why everything is being reduced to so the 'last reductions' are coming through in dribs and drabs and are the same throughout stores. Lots of stuff in my local down to around £6 but still lots at the first reduction price x x

I was told this too. Seems M&S are gradually reducing the remaining sale stock to attract those customers who avoid the shop other than at sale times. Basically
M&S has changed sale tactics with initial reduction not as deep as previous sales and drip feeding the reductions. This is similar to Zara Sale. I would say that lately M&S has really sacrificed quality material and design with increase markup. It's shocking the retail asking price for synthetic materials like acrylic, polyester and nylon. Roll on M&S next 'sale' in a few weeks and sales tat still available.

They(H.O) have changed policy on reductions. Basically each time reductions happen it will be roughly phase down by 20%. Sometimes some items will not be phased down each time. Probably more profitable for the company, certainly couldn't say "old tat". Mangers Reductions I hear are on Friday (I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong). Reality now reductions will be slower going forward for us all. Still worth waiting for though, just a longer process.
  • The sales has now ended online.

Same in Watford. I took back some items on Tuesday. When I popped in to get some sandwiches yesterday, I had a browse on the sale rail, as you do. The cardigan I had returned the day before was still the same price, £28, but with the addition of the stamp, making it non-returnable.
  • Agree the pricing has changed this year for sale items, Castlepoint have alot of sale items at final reductions but some items are still half price and only reduced once on the ticket. I do think nearly £40 for a jumper is still a lot for a final reduction at half the original price also a lot of Bras for £4 upwards good value you may think well yes if you are size 30 DD, also a lot of sale items being displayed again from the previous 2 sales they have had. Not that impressed at all, not tat but not really anything remotely nice either and I usually love M&S clothing.

Yes I think that's the way it works - glad I bought online else may not have been able to return some of the final reduction stuff :)
