I still want to know what the cubed bread with dijon "does" !
Today i have sliced potatos in bottom, with beef casserole on top, and will try non-suet (cause i haven't any in the house) dumplings. I did put plenty of dijon in my "stock" mix.

Oooooh! I am new to this Slow Cooker business, today is the 3rd time I have used mine, it's all still so new and exciting LMAO!....3/4 tin of coconut cream which was leftover & found in the bottom of the freezer - I just threw this into the SC still frozen in a big chunk but I'm assuming it will melt down and sort itself out into some sort of sauce ......
I'm just worrying a little bit about your frozen coconut cream - have you been keeping an eye on the progress of your curry?
If necessary, it might be possible to enlist the help of a microwave (or a saucepan) if your coconut cream is still sitting there in a lump and 'nothing much happening' in your Slow Cooker.
Good Luck, the recipe sounds great - I'm one of those who tremble with fear about 'freehand cooking' - until I've completely got the hang of what I'm doing. Just lack of confidence really, I think.0 -

flatmouse - the bread cubes 'melt away' during the cooking process and end up thickening the gravy. You won't have to use any other flour or starch that way. I tend to use wholemeal bread. Somtimes I spread them with plain Dijon mustard, sometimes grainy mustard (is a little sweeter).
When you do a plain beef & onion casserole, try adding cubes of gingerbread instead of bread/mustard - this is also very nice."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
I have chicken legs, carrots, onions, mushrooms and swede. Will serve this with mashed tatties and cabbage. Mangoes reduced in Lydl so will make a crumble and custard. Leftoven yorkshire puds in freezer so may have some of these as well. Im wearing out my SC this winter.0

I am pretty confident it will have thawed out though, because people chuck frozen sausages in don't they, and they thaw out and cook in 10 hours, so I assumed my cream would tooNow I'm all confuddled! Gosh I hope it's worked!

I'm using my slow cooker for the first time in about a week
I've just put some chicken legs in there, going to strip the chicken off the bone and then maybe mix with noodles or something, I'll think of something, I had to use them today though so thought i'd just chuck them in :rotfl::heart: Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies

Did you literally just chuck them in? As in, on their own? No liquid, no oil, no sauce, just the chicken legs?
(I've only owned a SC for 2 weeks you see)

Today in mine i have
300g diced beef (organic but whoopsied)
mushrooms
mixed peppers
onion
ginger
garlic
1 red chilli
two table spoons of chilli sauce
an hour before the end i ll put in a cornflour mix to thicken the sauce
Scubabe yes you can put meats in without any liquid as they create so much liquid of their own

In my sc today there are diced potatoes, sliced leek, diced carrot & turnip, turkey pieces, veg & chicken stock, salt & pepper & dashes of worcester sauce - Im new to using sc so hope this tastes nice.
I Was thinkin of adding pearl barley later to thicken it up but unsure when to do it & how much to put in?
Q) Do you think an hour before the end of cooking time & about half a cup would be ok?0
