  • Ok, popped out yesterday and invested in the large SC from Argos- I've waited for ages to find a bargain one big enough for when everyone's here!

Hoping to christen it tomorrow with my legendary chilli. Does anyone have any SC Chilli tips? Should I brown the mince & drain any fat first? Is the juice from a can of toms enough to cook it in?

    I will have many questions...mwahaha

    Thank you in advance :)

Hello creased Leach, I've bought one of those (to replace my old one which has a missing handle!) and have got a duck casserole simmering away today, as I'm experimenting with this one.

I cook chilli about once a fortnight, and always use mince with a low fat content. Then I can just chuck it all in, without pre-browning, or having to drain.

Sorry, just seen the bit regarding tomatoes. I usually use only a tin for liquid too for 400-450 g mince (see here), so my recipe may be similar to yours.

Morning all. as the title says in the SC today is veggie bolognese.
Fried off the onions for colour, then chopped turnip, carrots, parsnips, Pumpkin and mushrooms. All went in the pot with a jar of Dolmio original bolognese sauce. Will boil pasta on the stove later.

I have now seen the light with Dolmio sauce as I quote "with 100% good honest ingredients" when I look at just what theese ingredients are = 90% tomatoes. Lemon juice, onion, sugar, olive oil, salt. garlic, herbs, parsley and spices.

I do only buy theese jars when on offer but now think I could have spent less using a tin of chopped tomatoes and a few herbs and spices.

    What do you all think?
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

I am going to pop in to Morrisons about 9pm on Thursday to see what I can find to put in it.

the pork loin chops the other day were good - though i went overboard and put a 1/2 bag of old soup mix in with the other veg and that was waay too much! so when i served it i fished out the chunky veg and pork and some of the soup mix and froze the rest = 2 meat dinners and maybe 6 portions of soup to be finished later so not taking up too much room in freezer = rah!
