Does anyone make porridge in their slow cooker?
I haven't had it for years and I can't really remember if I am keen on it or not to be honest , but I thought I may give it a go in the sc.0 -

I`ve heard that others have made it but never really considered it TBH as it`s so quick to make on the hob, i remember reading about it somewhere on here maybe as long ago as last year.

Seasoned chicken portions with potato, fresh coriander, garlic, lime, and white wine, and a little chorizo. Had to make up today from what I've got in the fridge.
I've just added some paprika and dried thyme.

I do mine in the microwave (yeah I know NOT traditional and any Scots will have my guts for garters!).
half a cup of porridge oats in a deep bowl
one and a quarter cups of water (or water/milk or all milk) - stirred in
Ping for one minute and then stir.
Ping for another minute and keep an eye on it in case it 'volcanos'!
Serve with a teaspoon of demerara sugar, syrup or honey on top
Very quick - no burnt pans - only one bowl to wash up afterwards.

I microwave porridge too (for about 4 minutes), very quick and little mess (except for occasional volcanoes as per Olliebeak!
). I tend to burn the bottom of the pan when doing it on the hob.

Yesterday I cooked up a pot of veggie curry with chickpeas for protein. There are 6 large portions now in the freezer for mid week meals when I'm going to be late home from work.cyclingyorkie wrote: »Can you post your veggie curry recipe please? It sounds just what he would like. :T

The really great thing about doing them in the slow cooker is that the pan can't boil dry and ruin your meal. Plus of course all the lovely stock for the pea and ham soup .
