In my slow cooker today...

I did a whole chicken baked with 30 garlic cloves in the SC. Mine wasn't completely dry, because I did add 1/4 bottle of wine to it. Also I lightly browned mine in a frying pan first (not necessary though!).
You could always put a little liquid (about an inch) in the bottom of the slow cooker. Then there won't be any concerns about sticking, and you'll have all the lovely juices.0 -
When I cook my chicken in the SC - I slightly crumple a load of foil and put a layer of that in the bottom of the SC then sit the chicken on top of it.
This stops it drying out and sticking on the bottom too.
Like sublime, I also brown it in a pan first, as it comes out of the SC the same colour it goes in. You dont need to turn it or anything like that. xxSometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Sorry to be an idiot but do you 'roast' your chicken on low or high, and how long does it take for - say a 3lb chicken on low and on high if you can do that, please ?0

I think the heat is putting the chicken off as the little one isn't eating much of anything while the temp is up. Think I'll freeze it tonight.0

Tuna and vegetable lasagne. I've not made in Slow Cooker before, so should be interesting.0

I'm going to make some ratatouille in my small one and have it with scrambled eggs mixed in - my version of a dish called piperade which has slowly stewed peppers and eggs. Very nice, though the kids are not impressed with it. A tin of tomatoes (or ideally fresh tomatoes) plus sliced courgettes, aubergines, onions garlic and peppers, seasoned with salt, everything browned first in olive oil. Fresh basil added at the end.
I made chicken soup last night with a carcase I stuck in the freezer months ago when I didn't have time to deal with it, so that's lunch.0 -

Thats not a silly question. I had to do mine on high, because I didn't put it in till late so it just took a few hours. I would have put it on auto if I had put it in earlier. Then I would have left it all day.
I've always put a splash of liquid in mine, but I am going to try it without one day as per this recipe:

In this lovely hot weather, my sc is looking a bit redundant! I don't like to ignore it (!) so does anyone have any nice summery recipes?
Thanks

I slung an old can of Tesco value curry sauce over strips off my rubber chicken, some onion and some tesco value peas. I threw in a piece of ginger and some garlic too. That's tonight sorted for less than a quid.0
