    Hi all

Having seen on this thread that some of you cook a gammon joint in the SC (cooked dry, with no liquid) to use in sandwiches, I had a bash at it this weekend. It's cooked the gammon joint beautifully, but it's really really salty - should I have soaked it (in water? milk?) first? Or am I just unlucky getting an abnormally salty one?

    HELP! Just found this thread.

Freezer emergency - door open overnight - lots of mince and chicken started thawing what can I cook with the mince? Need a spaghetti bolognese recipe and another to use it all up. Will cook chicken conventionally and hope the fish is OK… aaaaargh! didn't need this today.

Little one won't eat chilli and only have new pots ATM. Could freeze it though.

What are barley stuffed peppers they sound interesting?

You part cook 100g pearl barley in some stock. Add some fried off onion, chopped mushrooms, bit of herbs, peas n sweetcorn.

Chop the top off the peppers (I do 4 peppers in my 3.5l slow cooker), empty them of seeds etc, fill with the mixture, put the lids back on.

Add a bit of stock or water in the bottom of the slow cooker then cook on low.

There's lots of mince stuffed pepper recipes on the web.

Well I'm new to all this slow cooking so can someone tell me if this is safe?

I've put about 2/2.5lbs of beef mince into a 3.5L SC and its very full!! do I need to worry? Only used it twice before with considerably less food than this. Its set to high and the mince and onions were browned before so how long would you expect this to take?
