Doesn't equate to £31k a year.
Plus housing benefit, child benefits and all the other ways that the system can be exploited.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Correct, see my earlier post for a breakdown as to how I arrived at the figure. 1 wife, 2 kids, 4 bed house rented in Kent, childcare required to work.
Plug the numbers into the website yourself but my earlier post is just a copy and paste of the numbers it gave me. You're blaming the messenger for the message.grizzly1911 wrote: »I think the problem is that the figures you quote are high end headline examples quoted to get the blood pressure rising.
No they're not. It's what I would have got if I'd signed on from the financial position I was in when I left the UK. I just plugged in my numbers into the UK Government's benefits calculator. This isn't some Daily Mail fantasy, it's my financial position run through a UK Government web-based calculator.0 -

Lots of people don't live in 4 bedroom houses ( 2children) what is other one for? Wouldn't be entitled to even 3 bedroom houses, depending on age and there are other counties, not just those in the SE.
I don't dispute it is available in certain circumstances but I doubt many , in reality get the all singing all dancing package."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Can being the operative word doesn't mean they are in the majority of cases."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

If I dropped to a 3 bed (I have a boy and a girl so I'd be entitled to a 3 bedder I think) then my housing benefit drops by £20/week so a little over £1,000 a year in my former area in Kent. I was basing it on the house I'd been living in.
If we're going to get picky about this stuff then we can stick my missus down on the sick as she suffers from a diagnosed chronic mental illness.0 -

We had a donation drive to my local foodbank recently. It's worth I think laying out how this and many others work as it does not fit the public perception.
In terms of my local one, which is a Trussell Trust initiative, the people receiving the food help do so on a short term basis and by referral (eg from a GP, social worker. job centre person who knows that person is struggling). You can't just turn up every week for your bag of freebies. So a typical user could be something like a family where one person has lost their job but then they get a big bill because say, their heating system has broken down.
My local one also collects food to feed the homeless, many of whom I know from the experience of working with them have very little. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

What a heartfelt story of dedicated people trying and doing a great service for those in need. Their will be many more organisations throught the country doing similar good work. You are all to be congratulated on your achievements.0 -

Thanks for the congrats Bertie, but they are not deserved here, I am merely a donor, not a volunteer. I work with the homeless in my job and it is through that I know that they don't have much. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
